The sun shone brightly on Wargreymon and his beautiful wife as they lay basking in the sun on the hot Capital City beach. The current temperature outside at the moment was hot. 45 degrees celcius, or 113 degrees farenheit.
"Daddy! Come play in the water with me!" Wargreymon's daughter shouted. "Okay, I will be there in a second!"
In the shallow part of the ocean, was Rika, Blackwargreymon and his family.
The six of them who were in the water were enjoying what the city has to offer, when two kids, must have both been 12 years old, came running onto the beach shouting grave news.
"TAKE COVER! THERE IS GOING TO BE A HUGE EARTHQUAKE! RUUUUNNNN!" The girl shouted. Rika ran up to the girl and the boy who shouted this. "What's going on? Why are you yelling this?" Rika asked. The boy replied with this: "The Capital City News Team is warning the city of a massive earthquake! You need to stay away from all buildings!"
Rika walked off, wide-eyed.
"What was that all about?" Renamon asked. "Some kids think there is going to be a huge earthquake." "You know, they might be right. You do know how many earthqakes Capital City gets."
Renamon and Rika watched as a fit man, presumably their father, escorted them away and coaxed them to stop yelling.
Rika and Renamon walked into the ocean thinking about what those kids just said. They explained the entire situation to the rest of their friends and family.
Blackwargreymon and Xenamon dissmissed it as being false, but Wargreymon really got nervous, the same way Rika and Renamon were. "Daddy? What is an earthquake?" Wargreymon and Renamon's daughter asked. "It is a really scary thing that happens when the ground starts moving." Wargreymon explained.
BOOOOOOM! CRACK! RUMBLE! The ground began to noisily shake. Everyone on the beach got up and began to scream. The power of the earthquake elevated at a quick pace. "MOMMY! DADDY! WHAT'S HAPPENING?!?!?!?!" Blackwargreymon's and Xenamon's son screamed. Blackwargreymon picked his son up and grouped together his loved ones.
Rika saw that the city behind the beach was covered with skyscrapers. She noted how a building of at least 75 storeys tall was waving violently towards them. "RUN!" Rika shouted as the building began to tip and fall towards the group. They ran off. They gained a safe distance from the building that could have killed them all. The building shattered when it hit the ground. Renamon's daughter cried when she saw the building fall. The group of seven went to an area of the beach that wouldn't be pummeled by falling skyscrapers.
The ground still shook. People still screamed. low-rise buildings still collapsed. The Earth was not at all merciful to the city.
About a minute later, the ground ceased to move. There was silence, aside from devastated people crying and screaming and worrying.
"Those kids where right!" Renamon thought aloud. Rika noticed in the downtown area that several towers had collapsed. The Capital 135 was still standing, but Rika could see it wavering.
"Is everyone alright?" Xenamon asked. "Is everyone here?" It was noted that everyone was still here.
"OH MY GOSH!" Blackwargreymon shouted. "How is this happening so quickly?" He said as the shoreline quickly retreated into the ocean.
"Leave. Now. Everyone." Wargreymon said. The group ran off. They headed inland through the horribly damaged city, keeping an eye on all buildings to keep safe if anyone of them collapsed.
"LOOK!" Rika Cried. "The water is coming!" Rika shouted at the monstrosity of water that came hurtiling towards the city. Wargreymon scooped up Rika. The rest of the group ran even faster.
The ocean had already consumed the beach and was quickly swallowing up the city. The wave was big enough to cover a three storey building completely. There was no safe place from the evil waters.
The group was almost at a safe hill to escape the ferocious beast that attacked the city with it's wet fury. But the water was gaining on them fast. They had to make a sharp turn to get up the hill.
Wargreymon was nearly there when the water snatched him and Rika up and carried them off downstream.
"WARGREYMON! RIKA!" Renamon screamed. "We will be okay!" He shouted back. "NOOO! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!" Renamon and Wargreymon's little girl began to cry out: "Daddy! Daddy!"
Rika gripped Wargreymon as they floated down the rushing torrent of water that ate the city. Wargreymon saw the water was beginning to slow down enough for him to grab onto a building. With Rika's arms wrapped around his neck, Wargreymon smashed a hole in the wall of the building he gripped onto. Water began to fill the building, sucking Wargreymon and Rika into it. Wargreymon swam to the staircase to take shelter on the higher floors.
"Rika, are you okay?" Wargreymon asked. "Yeah, I'm fine."
They sat there, but the water didn't stop moving. The building they where in finally lost all strength and began to float off in the water. It was slowly crumbling. Water smashed through the windows and carried off Rika, separating her from Wargreymon. "NOOOO!"
Rika hit land. She struggled to pull herself up onto the ground to leave the water.
"Who are you? Are you okay?" A familiar voice pierced the air. Rika looked up to see the boy and the girl that had warned of the earthquake a while ago. "Yes, I'm okay. I recognise you." Rika said. The boy helped Rika up. "My name is Max. Max Tanner." The boy said. "My name is Emily Guest. What's your name?" The girl asked. "I'm Rika Nonaka. Who was that man at the beach that got you guys to stop screaming?" "That was my dad. He told us that we were scaring people." Max said. "What is your dad's name?" Rika asked. "John Tanner."
"Com'on. let's get out of here." Emily suggested. Rika, Emily, and Max walked for hours. They where absolutely horrified at what just happened.
"So, Max, where is your dad?" Rika asked. "I don't know. He was swept away while trying to get us to safety." Max worried.
Emily and Max hugged each other, telling the other that everything would be okay. Rika sat down infront of The Capital City Strip, a river which once was a busy avenue. "I have no doubt many people died in this disaster. How are we going to be rescued? There has to be at least 20 million people in need of rescuing." Emily thought out loud.
"Maybe we should save ourselves." Rika suggested. "But what about Wargreymon? My friends?" She continued. "What about my dad?" Max bursted out. "I'm sure we will find him." Emily reasured.
Rika, Emily, and Max wandered through the un-flooded portion of the city, hoping that the city borders would not be flooded. As they did, Max's father, John Tanner found the three terrified, worried, and sad children. "Daddy!" Max ran up to him. John hugged his young son, glad that he and Emily survived the initial impact. "Are you all okay?" John asked.
"Yes, we're fine." Emily and Rika replied.
"And who might this young lady be?" John asked. "My name is Rika Nonaka." "It's nice to meet you, Rika."
"Now, help me find my friends!" Rika asked. And so, that's what they all did. They headed to where the rest of Rika's group escaped the surging water, but they were no where to be found. Rika found a telephone booth and dailed Renamon's cellphone number.
"Hello?" Renamon answered on the other side.
"Renamon! It's me, Rika!"
"Rika! I'm so glad you're safe!"
"Where is Wargreymon?"
"He's with us. We were searching for you. Where are you?"
"I'm with some other friends that I just found, over where you found land. Where are you?"
"Coming to get you!" Renamon hung up.
Rika, Max, John, and Emily all stayed there waiting for the rest of Rika's group.
Just then, a large helicopter began to land where the four where.
When it landed, Renamon ran out to greet Rika. "I'm so glad you and Wargreymon are okay! I don't know what I would do without you!" Renamon cried. Rika, Renamon, John, Max, and Emily boarded onto the rescue helicopter. Their destination was Del Ray, Capital City's undevistated neighbouring city on the same island. There, the group got their necesary health and medical treat,ent. The group also noticed lots of survivors of the disaster in their city.
Del Ray isn't nearly as big as Capital City, with only 4.5 million inhabitants and having a tallest building with only 93 floors.
About one year later, Rika and her friends and family were sitting in their new home. Rika was watching the news when a story about Capital City and the disaster flashed up.
"The disaster that struck in Del Ray's neighbour has killed at least 30 million of the city's residents, with 20 million people still missing. There are currently only 2 million surviving residents. The floodwaters have uncovered the city, showing massive destruction." The TV flashed images that reduced Rika and Renamon to tears. "Reconstruction of Capital City has began. Re-population of the city will begin soon. Scientists say that the last earthquake the city experienced will be the last major earthquake Capital Island will experience." The news lady broadcasted.
