Well, it technically is stealing because you're taking something without paying for it or permission from the creator. If you want to get music though, why not avoid relying on someone to give you the music (who could probably have stuck loads of viruses onto it just for shits and giggles) and get the songs yourself? Its easy really, grab yourself some video downloading software and some audio extracting software and you're ready. I don't condone the downloading of movies however, thats something i am against completely; get five of your dollars and go to the cinema like everyone else, it's a much better experience.
Also, things such as Torrent files don't just specialise in music, but also video games, programs such as Adobe Photoshop, (previously pay to view) pornography etc; i once had a friend who downloaded Supreme Commander from BitTorrent because he couldn't purchase it for the £50 retailing price; he waited alot longer then me to get the game, just to avoid paying.
Then again, people say free music downloading is ruining the music industry and i see their point, but surely the solution is to find out why people AREN'T buying songs, not focusing completely on stopping them get the music for free.
Theres my two cen- uh i mean pence.
