M/ECA Combat Commission (Furry Mecha/Powerarmor RP)

OOC NOTE: The reading below is not required to RP, but I do recommend that you read it anyway, just to get a feel for the RP ^^

================================

M/ECA (mehk-ah): Acronym - Mechanical/Electronic Combat Armor

M/ECA is an advanced form of electronically and mechanically assisted combat armor designed to be used on heavy infantry in the late 2300's. The cost of mass-producing the armor proved to be too great, and the contract between several military groups and the inventing company (Manticore Galactic Industries, or MGI) fell through.

Since then, the idea was picked up as a form of intergalactic war-game, spanning the thousands of inhabited galaxies. M/ECA are bought or built by players, either independently or sponsored as a team of five, and used in a combination of ranged and hand-to-hand combat, with ultimately the stronger machine being the victor.

The MCC, or M/ECA Combat Commission is an intergalactic bureau that regulates sponsorships, team and independent rankings, and any gambling on scheduled M/ECA events. Obviously even the MCC can't see everything at all times, so naturally there are shady underground networks to arrange fights and prize money with, but more often than not, their fights end in death, rather than shut-down (M/ECA ceases to function) or forfeit.

The M/ECA, in Detail:

The M/ECA operates through a Neural Interrupt Port (NIP) which is a surgical implant at the base of the skull. When a pilot (M/ECA operator) suits up, the NIP re-routes the signals from the motor controls section of the brain into the M/ECA's computer. So in essence, the pilot doesn't move the suit, the suit moves the pilot. The speed and accuracy of the suit's movements depend on both the user's skill and the suit's operating system.

In terms of what a M/ECA looks like, the designs and variations are as limitless as the universe itself. But most tend to follow a pretty straightforward trend of resembling the pilot in shape. For instance, if the user is a humanoid biped, the suit will have two legs, two arms and a head. They come in one of five general weight classes, ranked from lightest to heaviest, and each have their own advantages and disadvantages. They are: Ultralight, Lightweight, Standard, Heavyweight, and Megaton.

M/ECA can carry a miriad of weapons and tools either inside or on the suit itself. The limit though is usually one per suit section: left arm, right arm, torso, legs, back and head.

Outboard weapons (weapons not attached to, powered by, or integrated into the M/ECA itself) are permissable, but not generally recommended, due to the ease of which they are disarmed or rendered inoperable. On the flip side, they are easily repaired, cheap to buy or build, and any weight class can use any type of outboard weapon.

Integrated weapons (weapons attached to or integrated into the M/ECA) are usually more powerful, harder to damage or disable, and rarely run out of ammo, especially if poweed by the M/ECA's Eternal Energy Dynamo (EED), a sort of nuclear battery. The downside being that they are harder to repair, sometimes having to be removed from the suit entirely for weeks at a time. Also, integrated weapons are expensive, and need to be compatible with their weight class (OOC NOTE: I won't be too hardcore about this, but use some common sense please. An Ultralight won't carry a Howitzer, and a Megaton can't fly.)

M/ECAs are sheilded by two layers of armor. The first layer is a feild of energy, which deflects plasma and other energy-based attacks. The second is a more conventional layer of titanium plating, designed to absorb bullets, melee weapons and explosions.

The Exertion Engine is considered by some to be the M/ECA's most important feature. It's not so much an engine as it is a short-lived, ultra-powerful battery of reserve power, with can be used to increase the strength, speed, or sheilding of a M/ECA, but some pilots program their M/ECAs to unleash an ultrapowerful attack with the reserve energy in an 'all or nothing' last ditch maneuvre. This is called an Exertion Technique and is an extremely powerful attack, usually related in some way to the M/ECA's personal style or theme. Due to the sheer power of the Exertion Engine though, it can be used ONCE, and only ONCE. After that, the engine must be recharged out of battle, back at the Pilot's base or Carrier Ship.

So enough reading. Here you are. You've just gotten funding to join the MCC, buy and outfit a M/ECA of your very own. Go fight and earn some money.

Description: (Your character, NOT your M/ECA)
-M/ECA-
Codename: (Your M/ECA alias)
Team/Independent: (Member/leader of a team, or an Idependent?)
Weight Class: (Ultralight, Light, Standard, Heavy or Megaton. Remember each has their limits, so RP accordingly)
Style/Theme: (A central idea, style or concept your M/ECA was/is built around)
Description: (Describe the M/ECA's height and appearance)
Strengths: (What aspect does your M/ECA excell at?)
Flaws: (What shortcomings does your suit have?)
Weapons: (Describe any and all weapons your M/ECA uses. Don't be afraid to go into detail either. You're describing a tank with legs, after all.)
Exertion Technique: (Describe which aspect of your M/ECA becomes supercharged; OR create a uberpowerful, single-use finishing move)
----------------------------------

-Pilot-
Name: Andrew McDonald
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bi
Species: Mink
Description: Pure, glossy black from head to toe, and dresses in a dark greenish-brown flightsuit when not wearing his M/ECA suit. Is generally quiet and keeps to himself, but during a M/ECA battle, he is ruthless and direct in his methods of attack. Has a strict sense of morals, inspired by the ancient Japanese honor system, Bushido.
-M/ECA-
Codename: Tachikaze ('Killing Wind')
Team/Independent: Independent
Weight Class: Lightweight
Style/Theme: Speed; Wind-based attack.
Description: Simple, humanoid design. Roughly 7 feet tall and covered in polished, 1/4" titanium armor. M/ECA suit has a pair of radio 'Ear Blades' that, while the suit is functioning properly, twitch and swivel constantly, picking up radio signals as well as normal sound waves. The ear blades also help to make the suit more 'expressive'.
Strengths: Speed; Rapid Strikes
Flaws: Lack of strong attacks; thin sheilding/armor.
Weapons: Outboard
Plasma Blade (Last resort weapon designed to resemble a katana. Generates a superheated plasma beam in a forcefield)
Shrapnel Grenade x5 (a self-explanatory explosive)
Meteor-Class Sniper Cannon (.50 Cal rifle. Extremely slow firing rate, and only effective between 250 to 500 yards)
Integrated
Sparkcaster (Small energy gun mounted in the left wrist)
Zephyr Cannon (Custom minigun built into the right arm. 2600rpm; 5000 round capacity)
Exertion Technique: Killing Wind - Attaching a cable to his Plasma Blade, Andrew channels the Exertion Engine's power through the blade as he swings it, creating a flurry of plasma waves, slicing through all but the toughest of materials. The attack is chaotic at best, with no way of aiming or directing the blades, other than facing the target.
--------------

Andrew sighed softly, looking around at the landscape. Nothing but mesas and golden desert sands for miles. The perfect type of area for a M/ECA fight. Zero chance of collateral damage. It was something the MCC insisted on if it were to allow M/ECA fights on inhabited planets as well as uninhabited ones. With no-one around, Andrew ran his M/ECA's diagnostics cycle again, just to be sure he was still running at peak performance: Power System at 98.5% efficiency; extremely good considering the heat and dust. Ammo fully stocked; he hadn't fired a shot all day, and to be honest, he was itching to. He checked his outboard weapons as well, just to be sure. His rifle was dusty but not jammed, grenades within easy reach, and his Plasma Blade's battery was still fully charged.

"All this power and no-one to take it out on..." he muttered softly, trudging through the sand, listening to it scrape softly against his titanium armor. He preferred desert combat more than any other terrain. Only Lightweights and Ultralights could outrun him here, and the lack of cover made it difficult for sniper and hit n' run tatics. The perfect enviornment, he thought.[/i]
