The maneuver almost worked, and the Master was able to get his shield into the tree, run to it, and even jump off from it, but the nymphs were too nimble to be caught, though the orange nymph was knocked from her branch onto a lower branch, and he did retrieve his Ax. From the corner of his eye he would also spot something shiny buried under some leaves beneath another tree, but he could not know what it was. However, he was still in the air after having grabbed his Axe and the nymph below him was now helpless for a few seconds as she tried to climb back up the branch. He could strike her down now and kill her, probably making his task much much easier...he only needed one nymph after all.
