Two words: Don't Panic.
Situations are dire yes, but yelling and screaming won't do much good...unless your problem has sensitive ears and is ready to negotiate a cease-fire /joke. Heres an idea, why not lay out some plans? Think about the situation carefully and think of how you can make sure you stay sheltered, fed and maybe even try to get work. Then when the problem is upon you, go through your to-do list and get all these done. Give your best effort, it may not be your only option and it's not the easiest one either, but you can survive this way.
Don't Panic. It's much better to plan and enact upon it before resorting to any primal instincts of making a big noise so the bad thing will go away.
