Tacikaze stumbled back on its feet, wobbling slightly as it did. It looked around, trying to get a fix on the missiles.
"Tracer threats neutralized." the M/ECA's operating system droned. Andrew blinked, more than a little confused.
"Odd... must've been a faulty tracer or something." He deduced, having not even engaged the Intercept program. "Tachikaze, stand down on previous vocal command."
"Intercept.exe removed from standby command." The computer droned in reply. Andrew needed a counterattack, fast, and he was rapidly running out of options. For now, he slid down the side of the dune, taking cover behind the sandy embankment.
"Tachikaze, hypothetical scenario" he said finally. "Plasma blade has been rendered inoperable. How long would it take your self-repair program to identify the damage and repair it?"
"Data insufficient. Time of repair cannot be estimated without specific information regarding the damage sustained."
"Can you estimate the power drain?"
"Affirmative."
"Is it possible under currect conditions?"
"Possible, but inadvisable. Tachikaze's remaining power level would drop to 10%, leaving it in critical condition."
"Options?"
"EPS" Andrew blinked. He wasn't familiar with that term; but then again, he was never in this critical a condition.
"Elaborate."
"Emergency Power Shunt. Energy from the Exertion Engine is routed into Tachikaze's EED instead of a specific system or Exertion Technique Program. Warning: EPS carries a 35% chance of melting core components from potential overload, and 10% chance of EED failure."
"EED Failure?"
"Correct. The Nuclear battery would rupture, resulting in total M/ECA detonation and a 100% chance of pilot fatality." Andrew winced. He hated those odds, and he still hadn't found a way to get the computer to stop quoting them at him.
"Fine. How long will it take to execute the Emergency Power Shunt?"
"...approximately 1 minute, 32 seconds, Terran Standard Time. All but core systems will be shut down during this time." Not exactly a quick maneuvre. and no weapons or sheilds to boot.
"Why the delay?"
"Systems must be cushioned to prevent melting of components and EED failure."
"Any way to speed things up?"
"...Affirmative. EPS wait time could be reduced to One Terran minute."
"Execute." Andrew barked, leaping out from behind the dune. All he had to do was stop from being hit for another minute, all without sheilds or weapons of any kind.
