God Modding?
#3
There's a bit more to God Moding, actually...

God Moding involves one person taking the central role in an RPG without regard to other players -- whether this is slaying all of the enemies or being unharmed by them, or even making every other character look imcompetent. Generally speaking with a God Moder, they don't allow other players to play their characters, because the god moder takes all of the action to themself. Some symptoms include...

(1) Being invincible or omnipotent -- Characters get hurt and characters have limits. If yours doesn't have both limits and injuries in battle, you're probably god-moding (or possibly a coward or rogue, but we can address those situations later).

(2) Hogging Action -- Characters who slay hordes of enemies in a single post are probably god-moders. Combat should happen at a moderate pace, and allow for other characters to take part as well.

(3) Omniscience -- If your post details the feelings or behaviours of other characters, be wary. Generally speaking, very minor things can be forgiven, but should still be avoided as much as possible. If you know how other characters are feeling or thinking thought, you're probably skirting the line if not crossing it.

(4) Use of OOC knowledge -- if your character gains knowledge from the OOC (Out of Character) sections of an RP you're in trouble. Obviously they may have some knowledge not always revealed up front, but suddelny gaining knowledge that just happened to be pointed out in another post's OOC section is troublesome.

(5) Refusal to lose, wait, etc. -- God-moders hate to lose, they hate to let somebody else steal the show, and they hate to wait to move on. They want instant info-dumps, instant action, instant gratification.

These are not all of the signs -- but generally they are good things to avoid in order to avoid being a God-moder, or being accused of being one. If you ever worry that your actions might be going a step too far, it may be better to avoid them.
