RE: The Mary-Sue litmus test - DarkChibimon - 08-22-2009

This is why I hate this kind of test...I got over 100

RE: The Mary-Sue litmus test - Sacchi - 08-22-2009

75.

HAHAHAH!
I'M LAUGHING LIKE HELL!

I knew Sacchi was a Mary-sue all along. I Thought he would get around 50.
But he got 75!!!

HAHAHAHAH!
And I couldn't even check the box "Most of those power just appear after some sort of occurrence during the story" Because it just doesn't exist!

Such a crappy test. Still. i Will try to do more limitations for My Char.

RE: The Mary-Sue litmus test - Wisemon - 08-22-2009

This is a fun test. I got 55 for a character in one of my stories now. I think I'm a pretty good character, so I'm cool with that.

RE: The Mary-Sue litmus test - DragonMasterX - 08-22-2009

It's pretty tough to fall for everyone's tastes when you make a literal god character, too. But if you want an easy 1-10, just gotta make a character that's a pathetic and a literal emo attention-whore :)

They didn't give you a boxie thing for embarrassing weaknesses. Mar for instance becomes a powerless plush-shaped dragon if he catches a cold :0 Sorta lame for a god, but I'm creative when it comes to seeking balance :3

RE: The Mary-Sue litmus test - Crimson Fox - 08-22-2009

I didn't like how they set up the extra powers guide. Since Crimson is a mad scientist, I had to fill in extra boxes for stuff like Time Travel and Teleportation while Ada only need the general Magic option. They needed a super science option, dammit! :P

Eh, it's impossible to make a character whose every aspect is original anyways.

RE: The Mary-Sue litmus test - Lost - 08-22-2009

God, you guys really are clueless, aren't you?

The idea is to create a well rounded character that is balanced, developed, and not full of unexplainable Sue elements. It's not about originality. Now, if your character is a crude amalgamation of multiple already existing characters, congratulations! You've made the Plagarism-Sue.

And for the record, Mar, Annie scored an 8 on this test.

RE: The Mary-Sue litmus test - Kurtz - 08-22-2009

Kyosan, my main Original Character, got a nice 32. Borderline.

Steven got 21. Just one away from being a non-Sue. Despite partial immortality...

And a few others of mine got even lower. Surprising XD

RE: The Mary-Sue litmus test - Frisk E. Coyote - 08-22-2009

Prowl: I got a 90, but I already knew I was a Gary Stu. How much did you get, Gir?

Giro: 1... 131.

Prowl: *tries to stifle his snicker, but fails and breaks down in hysterical laughter* Ho-ly SHIT Gir!

Giro: I was an imbalanced character to begin with, so I'm not surprised.

Prowl: -RIGHT down to the Asian name- despite NOT being Asian!

Giro: I worked hard for that name!

Ray: -CONSIDERING they don't take into account the plot or premise of the story! *XD* I'm not surprised either though! You guys are my whores!

Giro: No one here even knows me. Was there a point to this heinous disproportion of power and back story?

Prowl: -At least I was heard of. I was Ray's forum avatar for a while!

RE: The Mary-Sue litmus test - Shadowknight - 08-22-2009

Whoohoo I got a 98, no clue what that means but Alright, highest score I've ever gotten on a test before. Now if you'll excuse I'm gonna go blow up a planet, SHADOW AWAY! *Leaps into the air and flies away*

RE: The Mary-Sue litmus test - DragonMasterX - 08-23-2009

Which translates to "Why are you taking the test anyway?", right?

Oh, and it's still a dumb test. The balance you're speaking of is basically to create a character who hasn't got a background yet and show multiple flaws and weaknesses they have and somehow overcome, and they expect you to explain how they are described along with the options. In other words, an emotional/psychological WIP character who's role is to start out small and then grow into what the character actually is (For example, someone who doesn't trust anyone due to a trauma but overcomes it eventually and makes friends).

The thing is, Mar's already worked past all that, and I'm not gonna re-organize every event in accordance to this test to reflect it. It's easy to modify every answer to receive the desired score, but I preferred to go for "Let's not please anyone but myself" :3
