Why Do Chihuahuas shiver? - Bee - 12-04-2008

Serious question.

While I was stranded in BF nowhere, we got a female chihuahua for free. We named her Midget, because in comparison to Duke, my German Shepherd, she is freaking tiny.

Well, I've been noticing that she shivers. A LOT. Why? It's not cold in here.

Anyone who knows why, lemme know. I'm curious.

Aren't they almost bald (Shut it GMSG) just most tiny dogs, (yorkshire terriers are the ones I usually now.) have long hair. Is it young?

I'm guuessing due to a lack of fur they get cold very easily. Even in human warm weather. Key word being HUMAN!!!

Rough guesstimation on her age is 1-2 years old.

Well, the thing is, I'm comfortable, Duke's panting like it's 110 degrees in here, and she's shivering like it's below zero.

Got it, a simple google search.
The chihuahua as a breed shiver excessively when they are excited, or stressed. Also watch out for the top of his head.

Tsss... a little late on the head thing.

She just bolted outside when we got home, a big no-no. Well, when she came back, she got the sheyat beat out of her. But, I don't feel a soft spot on the top of her head, so meh.
