I wonder how it works, it must be some kind of charm so that it can sense what kind of personality a person wearing it has. Silver stared up at Jade as she stood at the head of the room, Maybe it can read her mind or something.

Jade blinked. How did it decide that? She frowned distractedly. But I heard that house is evil... She got up and put the sorting hat down on the stool... chair... whatever... unceremoniously. Her face flushed a bit and she mumbled at the hat "... which table...?"

Deciding he didn't have anything to lose by going, Darky got up and walked over to the hat, picking it up and putting it on his head.

Darky pulled the hat off and set it back down, walking over to the table next to the Slytherin table, calmly sitting down and watching for the next student to be picked.

Jade wandered to the indicated table and picked a seat away from all the others, thinking of why she had been put in the 'evil' house. She put her hand in her pocket and clutched her wand insecurely, her other hand resting on the table in front of her, her expression quite bewildered.
