Computer problems, any insight? - The Reclaimer - 08-13-2004

I've been having a very annoying computer problem. When I am surfing the net, random porn sites pop up and, though I have a pop up blocker that stops them for the most part, it is a problem for a few reasons, 1 its the family PC, 2 no spy detecting programs find anything much and 3 I don't know why it's happening and that pisses me off. The only thing one spy program did turn up was traces of something called DSO Exploit which even though I try to fix it still shows up everytime. Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any tips, tricks, advice, etc?

Did you try Spybot S&D and ad-aware? It sounds like spyware.

Also did you install anything new or agree to anything on a porn or crack/warze site?

DSO Exploit seems to be a bit bitchier. Quick Googling found a rather large thread: --> Link <--

Aside from that, Necro kinda said it. "Spybot - Seach & Destroy", "Ad-Aware", and their relatives should at least fight the active things.

I use those.

Thank you both very much, I believe the problem is fixed and I really appreciate your input!

I'd love to see a website dedicated to tracking down and making public the names and home addresses of all these hacker and spyware creators. We really need to destroy the illusion that being an asshole from behind a computer screen won't mean I'll come over to your house and rape you with a broken stick.

Im not so shure about that

It would certainly be cool... But then again, probably also somewhat illegal. ;p

As opposed to what they do?

Hey, as it happens, I hear someone down in the U.S. passed a law where making spyware nets you a two year prison sentence.
