A Real Threat

As Doom and the others prepared to go back into the Digital World, Davis approached Kari.

"Kari, I'm sorry about what I said yesterday. I didn't mean it! Please don't hate me." He begged. Kari looked at him, then sniffed, walking away.

Once in a seemingly more secure part of the Digital World, Doom turned to the Digidestined.

"All right, we're going to do this the old fashion way. Find the Mother Brian and kill it. With luck, all of the poor slaves we don't have to kill will turn back to normal. The problem is locating the Demon."

"Right, let's split up and see what we can find." Yolei said.

"Ahh... no. That would have to be the worst thing we can do. Hell will pick us off one by one. We stay together."

"What about our Digimon?" Cody asked, "We might stand a better chance if we can find them."

"Good point, kid." Doom nodded, "How do we find them if they're not already zombies?"

"There's a couple blips on my Digivice. They must be it." Yolei looked at her digivice.

"Right. Let's go." Doom cocked his pistol.

As they approached the two digieggs, the team stopped.

"They're right in here." Davis said. Kari shuddered as she looked at it, reminding her of TK. As they began to walk inside, Davis noticed Kari's hesitation.

"Hey, aren't you coming in with us?" He asked.

"I... I'll stay out here." She swallowed. Doom looked back at them and sighed.

"If you're staying out there, make sure he stays with you. Anything happens, you get your ass in here and tell me." He said.

"All right" Davis nodded.

Yolei, Cody, and Doom soon came upon the digieggs. Lying next to them, partially buried in dirt, was a combat, single-gauge shotgun. Doom picked it up and grinned.

"Never thought I'd see this ol' girl again." He chuckled. After freeing the bird with a headband, Hawkmon, and the lazy armadillo, Armadillomon, the group turned to leave.

Davis, Kari, Veemon, and Gatomon were still waiting outside for the others. Davis leaned against the cave entrance and sighed.

"Kari, I really am sorry!" He said.

"Davis, this really isn't the place or the time." She replied, looking into the forest. Davis sighed and nodded.

"All right, we got the goods." Doom and the others walked out of the cave.

"Goods? Are you suggesting that I am luggage of some sort?" Hawkmon said defensively.

"Calm down." Yolei shook her head, "We have to get out of here before..." Grunts and growls soon filled the forest.

"So much for a peaceful stroll through the woods." Doom drew his newly gotten shotgun. The bushes rusted and everyone tensed.

"Davis?" Veemon looked up.

"Oh, right! Digiarmor energize!" Davis shouted.

"Veemon, armor digivolve to... Flamedramon, the Fire of Courage." Flamedramon took a fighting stance towards the forest.

"Yolei, would you do the honors?"

"Digiarmor energize!" Yolei held up her Digiegg.

"Hawkmon, Armor Digivolve to... Halsemon, the Wings of Love."

"Cody..."

"One step ahead." Cody held out his Digiegg, "Digiarmor energize."

"Armadillomon, armor digivolve to... Digmon, the Drill of Power." The armor-clad Digimon faced the forest and prepared for whatever burst forth. The trees parted and everyone gasped, even Doom. Standing in front of them, three stories tall, was a cyborg-minotaur. Its eyes were an evil red and grafted into its arm was a rocket launcher. It screamed horribly and rushed towards them.

"Time to separate the pretenders from the real-beef." Doom shouted. Splitting into different directions, the team barely missed being trampled by the Cyberdemon. It spun around in time to see Flamedramon and Digmon in front of him.

"Fire Rocket!"

"Gold Rush!" The attacks fused to form six flying, flaming drills. They bore into the Cyberdemon but it hit them all away. It pointed its rocket-launcher to the two and fired two rockets. Flamedramon leapt to the side and Digmon burrowed underground, both barely missing the explosive projectiles.

"Eagle Eye!" Two lasers dug into the Cyberdemon's flesh and it yowled as blood poured from its wounds. It turned and fired multiple rockets at the flying Halsemon. With an array of acrobatic stunts, Halsemon also escaped injury.

Doom ran around the back of the Cyberdemon and fired multiple shells into its legs. Unfazed, the huge monster turned towards him. Taking advantage of the distraction, Flamedramon ran up behind it and leapt forward.

"Fire Rocket!" He burst into flames and connected with the Cyberdemon's back. It screamed and spun around, catching the fiery lizard in its huge hand. Flamdramon saw the huge barrel of the rocket launcher inches from his muzzle.

"Rock Crackin'!" Digmon interrupted the attack by drilling into the ground and lifting the earth beneath the Cyberdemon's feet. Losing its balance, it dropped Flamedramon and he dashed away.

"Tempest Wing!" Halsemon twisted into a tornado and it struck the demon to its back. The Cyberdemon fell onto its face.

"Hah! We got it on the run!" Davis held up his fist.

"Like FUCK we do." Doom flicked his shotgun and reloaded. The demon got up and growled. It fired rockets towards Halsemon again and he flew fast to avoid them. Concentrating on evasive maneuvers, Halsemon did not notice what direction he was going.

"Eagle Ey..." He crashed straight into the cave wall. Multiple rockets struck him and exploded. Hawkmon hit the ground hard and became unconscious.

Digmon reared back for another Gold Rush attack next to the distracted demon. As if psychic, the Cyberdemon reached back and grasped Digmon by his head. It swung him up into the air and fired more rockets into him. Armadillomon also fell into a torpid state as he struck the ground.

Doom kept his distance but kept blasting the giant demon. It turned and rushed towards him. Doom backed away and turned to run. He turned to see a wall of rock over him. Turning back to the train of flesh and muscle Doom shielded himself as best as possible. He was left in a pile of rubble and was badly battered.

The Cyberdemon slowly turned to Flamedramon.

"Uh... Davis?" He called to his partner.

"Run!" Davis shouted. Flamedramon ran to the side to try and attack. The Cyberdemon saw this and fired a rocket in front of his path. Flamedramon jumped into the air split-seconds before being blown to bits. The Cyberdemon howled with rage and turned towards Kari and Gatomon. Davis and Flamedramon gasped. The gargantuan lifted its rocket launcher. Flamedramon and Davis's faces went white. They ran towards Kari and Gatomon as fast as they could. A rocket flew towards the two.

"NOOOO!" Davis and his partner cried. Flamedramon plucked Gatomon from the ground and Davis tackled Kari away from the blast. Standing up and filled with hate, Flamedramon practically flew towards the Cyberdemon. It lifted its rocket launcher to him. Flamedramon was faster.

"Fire Rocket!" He launched a fireball perfectly into the nozzle of the massive gun-arm. Starting at a small explosion, blasting the monster's arm to bloody pieces, the Cyberdemon then exploded into a mess of gory chunks and metallic bits. Littering the area and staining the ground. Only the demon's bloody hooves were left. Flamedramon hit the ground on his knees and panted heavily. He was encased in light and de-digivolved back to a very exhausted Veemon.

"Let's get out of here before anything else decides to blow us up!" Yolei shouted. Everyone nodded and picked up their Digimon. Doom groaned and emerged from the rubble. Davis helped Kari up before running over to his fallen Digimon. They pushed through the forest for what seemed like hours before finally coming across a TV.

"I think we can call this a victory." Cody said before they all disappeared in a flash of light.
