Chapter 14 – Troop Orders

 

“Joe, we’ve been walking for hours.  Are you sure you can work that thing?”
Gomamon tailed behind Joe, who studied the viewscreen on his D-Unit.  Joe never understood the functions of these new digivices – his original one was simple enough.  Now with all these functions, he found it difficult to keep track.
”Well according to my D-Unit, there should be someone just up ahead.”  Joe looked at his D-Unit, staring at the single blue dot that stared at him in the face.  Gomamon jumped up and landed on Joe’s shoulder.
”ARGH!  Gomamon! I wished you’d warn me when you do that.  It’s difficult enough to concentrate as it is without you on my back… literally!”
”I hate to tell you this Joe, but you really should’ve read the manual when you got this.”
”What do you mean? Why, what have I done?”
”Well to start off, you’re holding it upside down.” Joe looked closely at his D-Unit, as he turned it the correct way up.
”This makes more sense, I was wandering why I weren’t finding anybody.” Joe frowned.  They’d been walking in the wrong direction for many minutes and still nothing had turned up.  Not even an evil Digimon – not that Joe wanted to see one of course.

“Also Joe, that blue dot… that’s me.  You’ve been tracking me for the past 2 hours.  Change the mode!”
”BOLLOCKS!”  Joe composed himself, after that unsightly outburst.
”Careful Joe, you’ll burst a blood vessel!  So what does the D-unit say?” Gomamon asked, after accidentally letting go during Joe’s minor bout of anger and falling to the floor.
”Sigh.  It says..urm…  about a kilometer back” Joe sighed.  It was going to be a long day.

“Terriermon.  You found anything yet?” Henry shouted over the trees to his little bunny partner.  Terriermon hung from the trees, keeping a lookout for any other Digimon or digidude.
”Nothing yet Henry.  Found any food? I’m getting hungry.”
”You need to cut back, you’re getting fat” Henry mumbled under his breath.
”I heard that.” Terriermon called back to a fairly embarrassed Henry.  They’d only just met up with Rika and Renamon an hour ago, and deduced that they were lost.  They had yet to see any of the others walk past, and because they were never digi-world experienced, they hadn’t a clue were anything was.
”Found anything Rika?” Henry called out.
”Nothing yet.  I keep seeing tree’s moving, and a few mountains, but nothing else.  Renamon?” Rika turned her head away from Henry and further through the forest.
”Nothing Rika.  I think we may have to give up hope and start looking for shelter and maybe a place to sleep.”
”You give up too often.  Momentai!” Terriermon popped up in between Rika and Renamon. “If we were meant to find them, we’ll find them!”

“YOU need to shut up once in a while.  Come, we’ll go look for shelter.  I think we are pretty safe for the moment.  Rika can take care of herself.” Renamon glared at the little bunny who just grinned back.
”OK, but call back in about 10 minutes.  I want to know that you’re still alright” Rika shouted.  Renamon nodded her head and then disappeared, with Terriermon trundling behind.

Rika started walking back towards Henry.  “I only wish Ryo was here.  At times like this he’d make feel alright.  Stupid Ryo.” Rika smiled to herself.  She remembered her last and final encounter with Ryo.  “At least I had him before he went.  The same goes for all of them.  We could die any minute, and none of them would ever know how I feel.  They’re all pretty cute though.”

By the time Rika got back to Henry, she’d already worked herself up so much, she was as horny as hell.
”Hey Rika.  What’s the news?”
”I.. err.  Renamon and Terriermon went to look for shelter.”
”Hmm.  When are they coming back?”
”I told them to check in, in about 10 minutes”

Henry nodded and looked over to the lake he’d been sitting beside.  Rika blushed slightly and walked to the edge.
”It’s strange.  With Ryo gone, and your sister… I’m sorry” Rika spoke softly.  Henry turned his head with a slight teary eye.  Rika looked up at him as he wiped the tear away.  “Are you ok?” She asked him.  Henry sniffed and nodded.  She walked over to him and crouched down, and tears began to form in her eyes.
”Rika… are you… crying?” Henry asked her.  He looked into her eyes, instead of seeing the usual glare, which he’d expected of her for making such a comment; all he could see was sadness.  Before Henry had a chance to react, Rika forced her mouth onto his.  Henry was taken aback and fell to the ground, with Rika on top of him.  She darted her tongue forward, trying to part his lips.  He was so shocked that he put up no resistance at all.  Her tongue met his, as they began to intertwine.  Henry’s initial surprise had faded and he ran his hands down her back.  Rika broke the kiss almost as suddenly as it had started and looked into Henry’s eyes.

”I am Grandfeadermon.  I rule this area.  If anybody opposes me, I shall destroy them with my Wings of Victory attack.” Grandfeadermon’s voice boomed out amongst the chamber of his new hideout.  All the evil Digimon that lay at his feet were terrified, wanting only to please they’re new master.
”Right, now.  Who’s got some weed? I could really use a joint right now.”
”Lord Grandfeadermon!  We’ve just found some kids in our jurisdiction.  What do you want me to do?”  A red-eyed Gekomon ran up to his stoned master with the information.  Grandfeadermon slowly looked at him and smiled.
”Well I suggest you go and get some Monochromon to dispose of them.” He said in a voice which emanated pure sarcasm.
”Right away sir”

”We found the shelter about 15 minutes away.  It’s a small cave, with a network of tunnels.  The tunnels seemed to be deserted.  I think they used to be used my some micro Digimon, maybe Koromon.” Renamon announced.  Joe and Gomamon had quickly met up with Henry and Rika and they had all sat and reviewed the situation.  The plan was to find shelter and rest before finding Tai and the others.
”OK.  I suggest moving straight away.  We’re too exposed out in the open.” Rika said.  Joe nodded, and as did Henry.  They were just about to move when they heard a loud roar coming from behind the bushes.
”What was that?” Henry shouted.
”I dunno, but let’s hope it’s had lunch” Terriermon jumped forward.”
”It sounds like a Monochromon to me.  I’ve seen a lot of them in my time.  I think we’re safe,” Joe told the younger kids.  Joe’s voice climbed a couple of octaves as five Monochromon rushed out, bright red eyes and foaming mouths.  “Unless…. They’re like that…  RUN!  Head towards the cave!” Joe shouted.  Rika and Henry needed no second warning.  They turned and ran as fast as their legs could carry them.  Not one of them noticed the beeping from within their pockets…
”TERRIERMON, DIGIVOLVE TO…… GARGOMON”
”RENAMON, DIGIVOLVE TO…… KYUBIIMON”
”GOMAMON, DIGIVOLVE TO…… IKKAKUMON”

The three newly digivolved Digimon turned and faced the 5 monochromon.
”GARGOLASER”
”DRAGON WHEEL”
”HARPOON TORPEDO”

As the attacks headed towards the Monochromon, they didn’t seem to veer away from the straight path.  The lead three charged straight into the attacks, and were blasted unconscious to the side.
”Why aren’t they moving away from our attacks?” Kyubiimon asked.
”Maybe they’re just stupid” Gargomon replied.
”HARPOON TORPEDO” Ikkakumon fired 2 more torpedoes towards the Monochromon, who followed suit of the other three – straight into unconsciousness.

”Obviously our D-Unit’s are functional now.  It’s nice to know we can digivolve,” Joe said.  They’d taken refuge in the cave, which Terriermon and Renamon had found earlier.
”But I don’t get how we’re supposed to digivolve to Ultimate.  You don’t have your crest of reliability anymore Joe” Gomamon reminded him.
”And we don’t have the blue cards either.  We can’t even USE the blue cards on these D-units” Rika complained.
”Don’t worry.  I have a feeling that you should be able to digivolve to ultimate soon.  And as easily as you digivolved to champion.  I think these D-Units have power, we just need to know how to use them.” Joe said.
”I want to know why those Monochromon attacked us.  And why they were so easy to defeat.” Renamon spoke up.
”Momentai! We’re just great, that’s why!” Terriermon danced about, as Gomamon frowned.
”I don’t think so.  I think they were ordered.  Legacimon and his council have control over the digital world now, anything can happen.  We don’t know what they are capable of.  Maybe we may spot a weakness” Gomamon said.
”I hope you’re right Gomamon.  I suggest we get some sleep for now.  It’s getting kinda dark, and I don’t really wanna risk the night while Legacimon is out.” Joe said.  The other two nodded, and looked at each other.  Rika winked to Henry as she started to lie down, as Henry tried to hide the boner he was forming in his trousers.

”IT WAS PATHETIC!  You let them escape AND you allowed them to digivolve!” Grandfeadermon, still in his constant stoned state, boomed his voice out over the chamber.  The five Monochromon and the Gekomon lay there, at his feet, fearing what might happen to them.
”You have failed me.  You Monochromon are flawed.  I have no use for you anymore.” Grandfeadermon waved his hand, as the red-eyed Monochromon vanished into thin air.
”You have also failed me Gekomon.  Your inability to create a decent Digimon from the device is a liability.  I need someone who can perform better.  You have been relieved.  WINGS OF VICTORY!”  Gekomon’s scream echoed about as the black wave hit him and decimated him.  Grandfeadermon absorbed the data left behind and sat in his chair.
”Yeah… that was some GOOD shit!”
