Chapter 8 – Aftermath

“Well, this is gonna sound strange, but in our world... our dimension, you’re a cartoon” Henry replied. Tai looked at him strangely.

“I mean it. Your entire adventures, the battle with Myotismon, MaloMyotismon, The Digimon emperor...” Ken looked down at the floor, “...and everything. All a cartoon. I never thought for a second that you guys were real” Henry replied.
“Curious. I think I have a theory” Izzy spoke up.
“What’s that?” Tai asked.
“Well it’s obvious that our dimensions are close together, otherwise we wouldn’t have collided. It’s possible, that some people can see into our dimension. Like dreams, so to speak. Some cartoonist probably has this ability...” Izzy started.
“...And based a story on your lives, thinking it was just a dream. I see how that can work now. It’s a good theory Izzy” Henry said.
“Glad you think so...err, I don’t know your name” Izzy said.
“Neither do we. We never had a chance” TK said.
“Yeah. You obviously know all of our names, but we don’t know yours” Ken said.
“Well my name is Henry. This is my partner, Terriermon”
“Momentai” the little bunny answered.
“And I’m Takato, and that girl over there is Rika. Her partner is Renamon.” Takato looked down at Jeri, who was nearly in tears again, “And this is Jeri, and her partner is Leomon.”
“Wow. Having Leomon as a partner. I thought I’d never see the day” Joe replied.
“Takato, My digimon analyzer doesn’t seem to register your partner” Izzy told the young gogglehead.
“That’s because I’m special” Guilmon answered in his most goofy voice.
“This guy’s Guilmon. I created him.”
“You wha’? Did you say, ‘created’ him?” Yolei asked.
“That’s right. In our digital world, there are these beings
called Diginomes.
When my D-Ark, that’s our digivice,” Takato held his up, “scanned my drawing of Guilmon, the Diginomes created him
from my design and old packets of data.”
“Your digital world is very different from ours” Kari said.
“You’re right there. Our digimon don’t... usually come back. Once they’re dead, they’re dead.” Everyone looked down to find Jeri staring back up.
“Last year, we were fighting Beelzemon. He’s the mega form of Impmon. He changed for the better and helped us fight our true enemy.” Rika told everyone. Renamon looked down. She remembered her connection to Impmon.
“Was that the digimon with the 2 children?” Sora asked.
“Yeah. He realised his mistake, but at a high cost.” Rika told them.
“What do you mean?” Joe turned his head to find Leomon and Jeri standing up.
“In the battle, I was determined to protect Jeri, and the rest of these Tamers. So I took on Beelzemon” Leomon spoke up.
“Were you crazy Leomon?
You in your champion state wouldn’t be able to defeat a mega. But I guess it’s because you’re Leomon. Our Leomon would have done the same for us” Mimi said. Renamon thought
about that night during the battle with the D-Reaper. After Beelzemon
Blast Mode had arrived and revealed to be on the side of good.
“I did do the same for you.” Everyone
turned around, confused. Leomon himself was confused. “ I don’t understand. I remember fighting the dark masters, and I
remember fighting Beelzemon.”
“You must be the same Leomon that appeared in both
dimensions” Tai said.
“I wasn’t. I was... I don’t know. I may be a fusion of both Leomon’s”
“Best theory so far I say... what is that?” Izzy
said. Everyone looked around to see what
Izzy was looking at: his computer.
“What now Izzy?” Matt asked.
“Try to say that with more feeling Matt. It’s Legacimon...” Everyone turned around, looking for the psycotic digimon that had killed their friends, but in the ball of cloud there was nothing. That was, until they realised that Legacimon was on Izzy’s computer screen.
“Yeah, so what. I don’t want to look at him. He killed Cody” TK told him.
“And Armadillomon” Patamon corrected.
“Don’t forget the others” Terriermon added.
“Kenta, MarineAngemon, Ai and Mako... Impmon” Renamon said sadly as she remembered.

“So what made you realise and help us?” Renamon asked Impmon in the tree.
“I need to make amends for what I did. I killed... Jeri’s partner, just for some useless power.”
“But what about support? We could have ignored you and deleted you afterwards. Why didn’t that deter you?” Renamon asked. Impmon looked at her with a small tear in his eye.
“Ai and Mako, my partners, they took me back in with open arms. They wanted me back. All this time, they wanted me back. I was too blind to see it before, but now I realise. I love those guys and they love me. They spurred me on, they gave me strength! That how I was able to digivolve and mode change” Impmon told her.
“Incredible. They don’t even have a D-Ark, and they gave you that strength” Renamon mused.
“It seems that their support was all I needed” Impmon tried to hide the tears in his eyes as he thought about the kiss Ai had given him. It was his first kiss and he savoured it. Renamon put her arm around him to comfort him. Impmon brushed away the tears he had in his eye and sighed, then realised what Renamon was doing.
“Hey, whats with the sappy stuff?” Impmon snapped. Renamon took her hand away and smiled.
“You haven’t changed in personality have you” She asked.

“What’s up? What did you do?” Henry asked.
“I tried to scan the digivice from the picture, but all I have is a red blob” Izzy told them. The four remaining tamers looked up. Jeri walked over to the screen and dropped her head.
“What is it Jeri?” Rika asked.
“It’s worse than we thought.” Jeri looked up, red-eyed with fear. “I don’t know if we can do this again.”
“Again?” Guilmon asked.
“What do you mean?” Gabumon asked her. Takato walked over to where she was standing and his eyes widened with fear.
“It’s the D-Reaper.”
