The past, present and future - Original series by MISTER BIG T

The war has ended…Or has it?

Chapter 11: After effects

Miwako lit up a small candle and placed it on an altar made of cow hind and bones, as she knelt down on her knees.

“Thank you, mighty war God for granting me a victory today,” she spoke while she began to hum in a trance like state.

Just then, one of her guards entered the sacred room.

Miwako closed her eyes and trying best not to shout “What do you want soldier? You know, you just interrupted my ritual for one of our main deities. If we lose the next battle, it is because of you.”

“I apologize mistress, it was not my intention to do so. I bring joyous news. The circus is in town,” he spoke up.

Miwako gave a faint laughter as she could not help but be amused.

“You interrupted me just to say that?” she asked.

The man shook his head and continued, “I was just wondering, since none of the men have seen any of their families or any kind of amusement in ages…. That perhaps we should all pay visits in order to boost their morale and relax?”

Miwako was silent but then finally she got up to her feet.

“What is your name soldier?” she questioned him.

“It’s Derek,” he replied.

“Well Derek, I like that idea. Go and talk to the troops, I shall join you all in fifteen minutes,” she spoke to him.

Derek gave a bow before he exited off and rejoined their soldiers.

“My fellow men, our mistress has seen our strength in the last battle. She gave us permission to go celebrate our victory and see things we perhaps never again will see in our lifetime,“ he spoke.

Each of the men were anxious to get a time off from all the misery and pain of battlefield…Perhaps in a way, they were hoping this would extinguish the sights of the women they had brutalized earlier. Perhaps… They were just trying to assure themselves that they were doing this for the purpose of good…

The carnival itself was very amusing. The archers participated in skirmish tests and the men looked at beautiful dance shows. It seemed that even Miwako had fun, even though she had not wanted to come before.

“Come one, come all! Come and see the hideous monster child!!” a man spoke near a huge cage.

Miwako and few soldiers walked near and saw a 6 years old boy, bruised from whip scars. Upon further inspection, Miwako noticed his right arm was much longer than the other and he was a hunchback. He had horrible, deformed face as well with his nose being missing and his eyes missing their iris.

The man walked right in from the door and gave a slash at the boy with a whip. The boy howled in pain and tried to attack him, but he could not move because of the chains restraining him. Another whip slash made the boy fall to his knees and cover himself as he began to quietly weep.

The crowd was laughing and loving every single moment of this. Everyone, expect Miwako.

“How much does he cost?” she asked with a normal tone of voice.

Everyone turned to face her. Why would she want to own a monster such as this?

“Why, I don’t think I can part with my biggest attraction… That’d put me out of business,” he spoke.

Miwako extended her arm into her dress and pulled a small pouch “I can pay you enough to cover up you ‘til you find a new one.”

The man seemed to ponder for moment.

“How much are you going to pay?” he asked.

“Six cows,” she replied.

“I will not part for anything less than at least ten cows,” the man spoke up.

Miwako looked at her sides where everyone were waiting for her word before she said, “It’s a deal.”

Everyone was whispering something to each other, as the man gave the whip and the key to the cage for Miwako.

“You want me to get him out and tie him for you miss?” he asked.

“No need to. I can do it myself,” Miwako answered.

This monster…Is incredible. Many boys of our age would collapse and die… I wonder exactly how much pain can he take? With a proper training, he will probably be my greatest warrior…

Miwako walked into the opened door and extended her arm as she said, “Come on. Don’t be shy. I am not going to harm you.”

The boy seemed to be amazed and shaking from fear, but he extended his arm back nevertheless. Their hands locked together and Miwako helped him up to his feet.

“I am your new owner. You shall now serve me with your life. Do you understand what I just said?” she spoke to him.

The boy gave a nod and a smile. Anything must have been better than the circus in his opinion.

Chapter 12: Melisa’s dark decision

Melisa walked straight into the throne room of her king. The old man seemed to be anxious to hear from how she was doing. The candles in the room played tricks on the walls, as Melisa continued to walk towards the throne.

This man… He smiles at me…Does he not realize how much I’ve suffered for him? Of all what I’ve lost when I’ve served him during all these years? Or…Am I just an item for his good? Am I just a thing that he uses for his own gain? …………No, that can’t be… I won’t allow it to be so…

“Major Melisa… I heard what happened. You fought with the strength of fifty men and tried your best. I shall not hold you responsible for the defeat that occurred,” the old king spoke.

Melisa knelt down as she positioned her sword down on the floor.

“The capitol has been lost. The rebels are going to invade our kingdom whenever they see fit. I have made a plan how to protect us…. “ she spoke when she was cut off by him.

The king shook his head and said, “I grow weary of this old war. All they want is freedom…We could give it to them and instead of having enemy receive a new ally.”

Melisa grabbed her sword from the floor and rose up to her feet.

“With all due respect my king, I do not think surrendering is an option at this moment. Has the old age made your ability to make decisions blur?” she spoke.

“No, not in the slightest my dear major. But as a man once said ‘There are no winners in a war. Some only lose less’,” he chuckled.

You old fool can’t see it, even though the answer lies before your eyes. Don’t you care what I’m going to do? Or…Don’t you really realize your fate?

Melisa suddenly grabbed the king from his back and pulled him closer to her.

“What is the meaning of this Melisa?!” the king exclaimed.

“I’m relieving you of your position old man,” Melisa laughed.

Just after saying that, Melisa swung her blade and decapitated the old king in an instant. The head rolled down the floor tiles, leaving a trail of blood.

Melisa walked to the decapitated head and picked up the crown. She walked over to the throne and placed it over her head.

The rebels may think they have won… But they shall now instead see the birth of a new era… I shall not rest before each of them has been slain by my sword. I shall not rest before I can squeeze the life out of that little Cyprian who destroyed my eye... I’ll torture her so much that she’ll beg and plead me to kill her… And then I’ll force her to live her rest of her life as a freak of nature.

In her hideout, Jenny roared in laughter as she observed Melisa from her crystal ball.

“The foolish pawns are working to my advance just as I wanted,” she laughed.

Chapter 13: The future waits

The two sides collided against each other for ten long years. The monster boy became Miwako’s most trusted bodyguard. Derek became one of the leaders of her troops, as they continued their everlasting war.

Melisa was with the aid of her most trusted warrior; the legendary Sir Longoose able to stop the ‘rebels’ attacks against their main land. Neither of the sides was able to gain advantage on what seemed like an endless war.

But this should all change soon… Because one day…

“Excuse me miss? Would this happen to be the town where the War Queen Miwako lives at?” a man dressed in a green and black armor asked a young maiden. He had a long blue hair that reached his shoulders.

“Yes, she lives in her mansion two street blocks from here to north.” the girl in common farmer clothes replied.

The man began to walk his way towards the mansion when suddenly, a young girl in a completely white robe bumped right into him. She accidentally dropped her staff and fell on her butt.

“Oh, I’m so sorry! I didn’t see you!” she apologized.

“No… It’s all right…” he started to say while helping her up to her feet but just then he recognized her and continued “Hey, aren’t you the sister of Miwako? Renee the cleric?”

“Umm, yeah. That’d be me!” the ten years old girl gladly responded.

A moment of silence passed between the two.

“What do you want from my sister anyway?” she asked.

The man looked towards the mansion “Word from this war travels far away. I have traveled long to be able to help her, because I too hate the Lichen for personal reasons.”

“Really? Well, I suppose I could introduce you to her… It’s not like she’d mind getting more troops to aid her…” Renee mumbled.

In her mind however, Renee loathed her elder sister for all the actions she had done throughout the years. Renee considered her older sister as nothing more than a pathetic woman with all brawn and no brains. But because Miwako supported her and paid for her cleric studies, she most of time restrained from saying what she wanted to say.

“Oh… What was your name again?” Renee suddenly asked.

“Toncar, the sixth son of the Duke of the East,” the man replied.

How has the time changed the people whom we know?
