Shall the new person shift the tides of war into favor of Miwako?

Chapter 14: Meeting with Miwako

Toncar and Renee entered into the small throne room where Miwako was sitting on a chair.

“My dear little sister. What brings you here?” she asked.

Renee gave a slight bow as she said, “My sister, I met this man and he’d like to serve you as a warrior.”

The monster man on the side of Miwako gave a grin but Miwako kept her emotionless face.

Finally she broke the silence and said, “I hope you are aware, warrior that I am going to put you into a series of tests first?”

Toncar gave a nod, but did not say a word.

Miwako gave a snap with her finger and immediately, four men surrounded him. Without even giving a blink, Toncar suddenly raised his arm a little and punched straight against the ground. The earth seemed to shake and the men lost their balance. Immediately, Toncar reached for his sword belt and pulled his sword, ending their life with a singular swing as they fell to ground bleeding at fast rate.

Miwako clapped her hands as she chuckled “Impressive. But I have been seeing too much war to know that no one does it out of kindness. So what is your motive warrior?”

“I believe a person named Jenny is on the same side with the Lichen folk…. She’s caused much grief to my people in the past and I have made vows to avenge them,” he explained.

“Interesting…Perhaps, we can both gain something from this alliance?” Miwako asked, as she reached her hand towards him.

But just as Toncar was about to take Miwako’s hand, the monster man grabbed his arm. The hand was almost bigger than his head.

“I assure you little man that I am not going to be as easy to push away as my comrades,” he growled.

Toncar gave a smug grin and with a cocky tone added “Perhaps one day we can see if that’s a fact.”

Just then, Miwako rose up to her feet as she angrily spat from her mouth “Cut it out you two. You soldier… I have a task for you. One of our biggest foes, the legendary spear warrior Sir Longoose is in a nearby campsite making rituals to their War God. His mighty spear has been rumored to be indestructible and capable of killing people by hundreds. Kill him and destroy the shrine to lower the morale of the Lichen army. I want you to help my men in the battle. Make sure to bring me the head of Longoose, so I can send it for the Lichen Queen. Your superior for the mission shall be Commander Derek. Any questions?”

Silence filled the room.

“In that case, I wish you luck. Do not fail me,” Miwako spoke to Toncar.

As Toncar bowed and walked off, Miwako suddenly made a hand gesture for Renee.

“Come closer my dear sister,” Miwako said.

Renee seemed surprised but moved forward and said, “Yes, Mistress?”

“Let it be known that I am not happy with you being a pacifist and refusing to help our cause. At your age, I had already killed more people than I could count,” Miwako spoke.

Renee was silent but finally mockinfully replied “More than ten?”

Just then, Miwako gave a slap at Renee’s cheek and the blow let out a huge sound.

“Listen to me you ungrateful little slut. The only reason and the ONLY reason I’ve not sold you to slavery for money has been because we’re of the same blood. But my patience is not limitless and if you continue to test it, I shall do something that’d make our father weep,” Miwako spat the words as she held Renee’s hair in tight grip.

Renee held her painful cheek and without a blink stated, “Again you resort to a violence immediately when someone disagrees with you. Does it grief you to know, that no matter how much you hit and hurt me it will not make me respect nor love you?”

Miwako’s face flushed red from pure anger and she slowly said, “Get out. Get out now, before I show you what the violence you despise is capable of.”

LATER…

Toncar was marching in row with other soldiers.

“First we’ll make a small hit and run attack with a minimum amount of soldiers. Then, we retreat and get them after us, leading them where our archers and the rest of troops are. Then me and the rest of the riders will come from their sides and seal their path,” Derek explained the tactic. He took a heavy breath before yelling from top of his lungs “Glory à rainha!” The soldiers replied this chant by raising their weapons and repeating the ode for victory.

The volunteers walked straight into the middle of the tents. Immediately, several Lichen soldiers spotted them and began to look out for their weapons. The volunteers turned back and began to retreat, when….

“AMBUSH!!!”

The shout was heard all over the battlefield. Gods know how, but Longoose had predicted a direct assault. He had been waiting nearby and now Derek’s troops were in the middle of two forces of Lichen soldiers.

“Spare no one!!” Longoose yelled as he rushed towards the shocked rebels.

It seemed as if Longoose’s spear would have had five heads as he struck soldiers down in fast pace.

“They are slaughtering us!!! This is not fair!!!” a rebel soldier screamed.

“Remain your position men! Reinforcements are on their way!!!” Derek yelled as he rode with the other riders towards the Lichen soldiers.

Amidst the carnage stood Toncar. He had not touched his weapon sheath even once during the fight. He was just observing the fight.

“This kind of a holocaust is beyond mortal capabilities… This Longoose has either made a deal with a demon or he has an extremely strong ally,” he thought.

Just as Toncar was pondering who it could be, one Lichen soldier gave a war yell and raised his sword to strike Toncar down.

In a blink of an eye, Toncar turned around and punched the man into throat. As the soldier gasped for air, Toncar raised him up with a single hand and twisted his neck.

“It couldn’t be… Her? Could it? Is Jenny lending her powers to these people?” he thought to himself. Just then he yelled out loud “Stop this fight!!! Stop pleasing the dark gods by spilling our blood!!! Don’t you see what is happening?? This is exactly what our enemy wants!!”

Either no one heard or no one cared since the battle only grew worse. Several times Toncar almost reached for his weapon, but he always pulled his hand off the sheath.

In his mind he thought, “I shall not reveal my magnificent blade unless I really need to…. The rebels seem to be able to take care of the situation on their own.”

And it was true; the rebels were beginning to gain advantage thanks to the riders. But Longoose was still cutting the rebels down as if they were grass.

“I shall slay you all myself if I must!” he yelled.

Toncar realized that this man was different. Perhaps his weapon was magical or he had blessings from war gods. Whatever the case was, it was clear to Toncar that this man could single handedly wipe the entire rebels’ army off.

“I challenge you to a duel Longoose!” Toncar yelled.

Longoose stopped his movement and gazed long at Toncar. Everyone stared at Longoose as if waiting for a signal. Longoose gazed at his troops and gave them a slight nod to their direction. Everyone around the two gave them space for the fight. And then, Toncar reached out for his weapon.

It was a long blue sword with a half moon symbol at near the tip. It was about the size of a bastard sword, except it had a wider edge.

“Nice sword you’ve got there,” Longoose said.

“It’s no ordinary sword. This sword is the fabulous blade of Iki Turso. It was crafted from a meteor by a demon 1000 years ago. It can cut mountains in half and it can even unmake gods themselves. It’s been going in my family, always serving whoever had the good heart and knowledge to wield it for generations. And with its aid, I shall defeat your thrall taking people,” Toncar chanted in contempt.

Longoose rushed towards Toncar who also ran towards the armored soldier. Both swung their weapons at each other, both failing to land a hit.

Longoose backed a bit and thrusted his spear forward. Toncar dodged the thrust by spinning forward along the spear, and then slashed at the chest of Longoose. He groaned and held his chest where the armor had been broken.

“It’s been awhile, since I’ve last time seen my own blood… I’ve nearly forgotten how it looked,” Longoose said as he brought his blood-covered hand up to see it well.

“Don’t worry. I can make you bleed as much blood as you want to admire,” Toncar replied.

Toncar began to run towards Longoose who suddenly swung his spear towards Toncar’s head, making a trail of blood fly.

“How’s that?” Longoose mocked him.

Toncar reached his hand to rub the bloody wound and brought it to his mouth, “Little salty.”

As Longoose raised his spear, Toncar slashed with his sword and the top of the spear flew clean off.

“Im… Impossible!! My spear is indestructible!!!” Longoose exclaimed.

“I don’t believe into rumors. Perhaps you shouldn’t either?” Toncar mocked Longoose.

The sword of Toncar began to glow with an even brighter blue color and with one swift swing, he decapitated Longoose. The head flew across the battlefield and landed on the ground, leaving a trail of blood as it rolled. The headless body of Longoose still twitched as it fell on ground, several of the members desperately beating against the ground before the spasms stopped.

“You, who still have your life, quit this fight!!” Toncar screamed.

Seeing their leader and mightiest warrior killed with almost no hardship at all the Lichen army surrendered.

Chapter 15: The final fight?

Toncar gave a blink.

“Excuse me, but did I hear correctly?” he asked.

“You heard correct, warrior. Thanks to your aid, my troops were victorious. I’ve been planning a secret attack to the Lichen inner kingdom and against the queen for longest time. What I have lacked is strong person who knows both magic and how to handle a sword. If you’re interested, I’d pay you very much,” Miwako spoke.

“I am extremely thankful for the offer, but I must warn you. I sensed something dark surrounding this Longoose man. I cannot say anything for certain yet…But if it’s what I predict, things are definitely not going to be easy. I think that the queen has made a deal with the devil himself,” Toncar spoke.

Miwako rubbed her chin as she pondered the words.

“I’d not be suprised if Melisa would be controlled by a demon or some evil deity. I’ve seen with my own eyes how she fights and I’ll never forget the sight even though I was a mere kid then,” she thought to herself. Out loud she said “I thank you from this warning. I shall take it very seriously and add extra measures for my plan.”

“When are we going to make the attack?” he asked.

Miwako gave a grin “Immediately. They’re still recovering from the past attack; they won’t be expecting an immediate assault. They’re still scared and confused, because of their loss and our moral is strong. I am going to hit them hard. I am going to lay all my troops and resources on the line.”

“Sounds like you are really confident about your plan,” Toncar laughed.

“Yes, I suppose. But confidence is your best ally in the battlefield. Without it, how are you supposed to be able to kill?” she questioned him, although she did not expect an answer.

Miwako tapped her hands together and the monster man came close enough for her to whisper something to him. He gave a nod and left.

“Even as we speak, some of my best men are attempting to breach the walls. The mages shall weaken their defenses and make their heads dizzy with their powerful magic. Then we shall pick them out one by one,” she explained.

Toncar gazed at Miwako for a long time before he was able to reply “You used me as bait… You knew Longoose would take most of their men away from their headquarters, didn’t you?”

“Call it an instinct of woman if you wish. I did not expect you to come back to me alive. Therefore, I am able to say something I do not say very often…. I am sorry,” she confessed.

Silence passed between the two.

“I forgive you. I know why you had to do so…In your position, I’d probably had done the same thing…” Toncar spoke to her in a soothing tone.

“Take my hand… And walk with me and the others to the road of victory ahead of us all,” Miwako told him.

Toncar gave a nod and together, he, she, Monster man, Derek, and several of Miwako’s best soldiers rode towards the Lichen kingdom. As Miwako had predicted, the castle of Lichen people was falling apart from the Rebels’ strong magic and their constant attacks.

“Disregard the fight that these people are having as ours lies ahead in the throne room,” Miwako instructed her men as she rode along the halls in the castle.

The men did not want to leave their comrades to fight the Lichen army on their own, but listened to her words nevertheless as they did not doubt her knowledge of war. As the riders rode throughout the halls they all came across a huge door.

“Marouk, destroy the door,” Miwako instructed the monster man.

And so Marouk got off his horse and walked up to the door. He pulled both of his hands behind to his sides and they began to glow. When he punched the door, it exploded into thousands of splinters.

“Not bad. Remind me not to have the test of strength with you after all,” Toncar said.

In the throne room, Melisa sat on the throne. She was in her battle armor and her sword was in front of her, some of it slammed through the floor.

“I knew you’d come one day, Warrior princess. I think we’re supposed to have our duel ‘til death now? A duel, where we decide which of us is truly the superior one at handling a blade?” she spoke to Miwako.

“The war that started nearly twenty years ago shall finally end today. Your troops are being slaughtered. Longoose is dead. Your gods have abandoned you and there’s nothing that can stop me from exacting revenge for my father!” Miwako yelled at her.

Melisa gave a worn out smile as she stood up and pulled the sword out from the floor.

“Our fight would be pointless, War princess. For years, the madness covered my mind…. And I’m finally beginning to think clearly again after all this time. A sorceress has manipulated me… She made me give my daughter for her sadistic needs…. And she made murder my king…...” she explained. She closed her eyes and continued “I do know you don’t care about anything like that. You just wish to kill me. But let it be known that it was not me who killed your father. I *loved* your father and that’s why it was so painful that I was supposed to kill him. Sadly, I never had the chance to even speak with him before his demise.”

“Little do I care what you speak harlot. You are just trying to confuse my head with lies,” Miwako replied. She tightened her grip on her sword as she said, “I have vowed to bring your kingdom down. Nothing can stop me now from doing that.”

Melisa took her stance “Then it is truly a shame that I must kill all of you right here.”

Just as it seemed as if the two would kill each other, something no one expected happened. A bright light suddenly surrounded the entire room, nearly blinding everyone.

When they could see again, there stood Jenny in the middle of both of the forces.

“Greetings…. I witnessed the childish argument between you two and decided to… Let’s say, crash the party?” she laughed at them.

“I… I remember you. I saw you as a kid, who are you??” Miwako exclaimed.

Melissa took few steps forward “This is the woman who killed your father… But I do not understand why are you showing up right now in the middle of us two?”

Jenny gave a small laughter before she replied “While many would see madness in the fact that I just showed up in the middle of two of you and your mightiest men… I simply see no longer use for you. All the seals have been broken and….I have become immortal. You two are no use to me anymore. However, in case you people would like, I could let you worship me on the floor.”

“Worship YOU?? You are truly insane. I do not know what you’re after sorceress but I am much stronger than when I was a kid,” Miwako shouted at Jenny.

Jenny gave a grin and with a nearly demonic voice she added “And you think that when I became immortal, I would have gotten weaker? Indeed I did not. Do you people really want to challenge an immortal? I could understand if you’d not want to worship me and I’d somewhat understand disobeying me but committing a suicide attack? What do you wish to achieve by that? Swift death?”

Melisa walked to the side of Miwako as she said, “We can all gain revenge upon the inhuman creature that’s destroyed our lives and many others.”

Jenny gave a smug grin. But without a pause, she folded her arms together and blew through them. Immediately, ghastly yellowish green vapors began to form from her breath. As it touched the soldiers, they screamed and held their throats as their skin melt away.

Toncar mumbled some words in an unknown language and suddenly, a barrier surrounded the rest of the heroes from the poisonous clouds.

Without even a pause, Jenny moved her arms in a circular motion as they began to glow purple. Suddenly, bolts of electricity shot through all ten of her fingertips, killing off all the rest of the soldiers.

“You fools. With merely two minor spells, I have killed almost every one of you. Give up before I slay you all,” she spoke.

Marouk gave a roar and began to run at Jenny. He attempted to punch at Jenny, but just then, she began to blur from everyone’s vision. It was hard to see what spot the woman was at and Marouk’s punches all landed in air. Then suddenly, Jenny appeared behind him and slashed her knife across his back from his tailbone all the way to his neck. By giving a painful whimper, the monster man fell down.

“NO!!!” Miwako screamed.

“Little difference does it make how many of you die now,” Jenny laughed.

Just then, both Miwako and Derek rode towards Jenny on their horses ready to strike her down. As they moved forward however, they suddenly noticed as if there would be three Jenny’s.

“Split image??” Miwako exclaimed.

Just then, the most left one jumped towards Miwako and slashed at her chest. Miwako screamed as blood shot from her now gaping open wound and she fell off her horse with her armor cracked and the wound going from collar bone to belly. Just at the same time, the right one jumped and stabbed the horse that, with a neigh, fell down causing Derek to fly through air. With one move from her finger, the middle one shot a fireball that burned Derek to a crisp as he screamed and tried to wriggle in the ground as a burning fireball.

As Melisa observed the humongous powers taking place, Jenny suddenly shot a wind wave at her causing her to fly against a wall. There came a crack sound as she hit against it and her body descended among the wall with trail of blood following the descent.

“Only you, son of the Duke, remain. You have something I want. Give me the Iki Turso before I shall send you to the seventh layer of hell,” Jenny growled at Toncar.

“You fool, you don’t even know how to handle the sword,” Toncar replied.

Jenny gave a grin and stated “I am aware that it requires a special trick to wield its powers. However, I am going to ask you nicely ‘til you are going to tell me that trick.”

“I’ll let you know… I have a pretty big pain tolerance if you are going to torture the information out of me,” he answered.

“Then, I better get started right away…” Jenny mocked him.

Before Toncar could even blink, Jenny blew some mist towards him. Toncar felt his eyes weigh thousand pounds and he could hardly stand.

“D…Damn…,” he thought as he fell on his back.

Everything fell into darkness and Toncar could feel himself being carried somewhere.

Suddenly, he felt huge pain in his left eye and as he opened his eyes, he was shocked to see Jenny hold his left eye in her hand.

“W…What did you do??” he exclaimed.

Jenny did give a grin and pointed down. As Toncar gazed a bit down, he gave a scream as he realized Jenny had cut off his legs and arms. He was a mere bleeding torso and just then, the pain of the loss of the limbs got to him.

“Now Toncar…We shall talk about Iki Turso….” she said while she aproached him with a bloody knife in hand.

And on this day Jenny claimed a trophy for her today’s victory, the most legendary sword in the history.
