Chapter 0: The side that fights for
freedom
I was born under slavery, just like all my fellow men and women. We
were all forced to follow the path of "Huknar", the god of misery. We
had to abandon our own religion and beliefs ever since they arrived. The
terrible men from the north, we call them "Lichen".
One day our people rose against the Lichen. I was there… on the front line… I
saw everything… It was then when I discovered that I have special skills. This
could be best described as magic. My abilities are inhuman strength, ability to
read my opponents mind, and my greatest skill, the ability to control a
person's mind.
My name is Inoer. I am the commander of our army, and the legendary lance
warrior. Shortly after the cursed was started, I was blessed with two beautiful
girls who've lived their lives without bonds of slavery. It would be my task to
ensure that this great fortune would also happen to their children as well. My
second child was still just a mere baby and has not yet even seen me once.
However, one day I shall return and she will come to know the man who helped
the entire race of Lorean become free.
It was time of the most crucial battle in the war. The war to
end all wars. If the rebels could win the battle, they could cross the
bridge towards the Lichen capitol. If this would happen, Lichen would have no
choice but to give up and let the people of south live in peace.
Inoer and his troops were camping, in the blistering winds and freezing cold.
Tomorrow, they'd march into the capitol.
"Has there been any word from my daughters?" Inoer asked one of the
captains.
"Yes, commander. They're both safe in our base. No one has threatened
their well being," the captain answered.
"Good.... If something happens, I trust to you, that you go and inform
them personally," Inoer instructed his most trusted troop.
"Aye sir," he replied.
Inoer looked around. They were in a mountainous area, near the bridge leading
towards the capitol. The mountain was the very same mountain, where the rumored
‘Dragon king’ had been slain. Their camp was protected by a magical fire, which
helped them overcome the coldness.
Suddenly, Inoer noticed something up in the mountains. One of their own troops
was standing and facing towards the other mountains. He did not move or even
blink, as he kept staring directly front of him.
"Stay here, I'll go see what is the matter with him,"
Inoer instructed the captain.
Inoer walked all the way up where the soldier was.
"Cumprimentos, soldier. What are you doing here, in the middle of
nowhere?" he asked the lone soldier.
The man did not reply he just kept staring towards the mountains.
Just then, Inoer noticed it. There was someone in the mountains. A jezebel
stood before them, hidden under a flowing cloak. She had a pale skin and she
held her head down. Despite this you could tell she was smiling.
There is something wrong... I can't
control her mind nor can I read her thoughts.... Who is she?
"Soldier? Do you hear me?" Inoer asked,
taking hold of the soldier from his shoulders. "Do not listen to the voice
in your head. Do NOT follow it," he continued to speak to the soldier.
The soldier gave an ear splitting scream as he fell on his back, holding onto
his head like his life would be on the line.
"You are free. Go back to the camp and alert everyone. There's a hostile
force who could be working for Lichen," he instructed the soldier who was
now slowly getting back up to his feet.
"Yes sir....... And good luck," the man replied before leaving.
A small gust of a wind blew over Inoer who turned to face the lone woman.
"Cumprimentos, stranger. What are you doing in
here?" he asked from her.
"Groeten, war chief, " The woman replied.
Groeten? That's no usual greeting. Nor is it
greeting of Lichen. Who is she?
"Name yourself and your purpose of being here," Inoer demanded from
the woman.
"My dear, dear, Inoer. Is this how you treat all
the women who seek to speak with you?" she laughed.
"I treat all of those who I don’t trust this way. And considering what
you've done so far, why *should* I trust you?" he spoke up.
"I do not ask to be trusted, I just want you to listen," the woman
said.
"So speak, stranger. Tell me, what you are doing here?" he asked her.
"I have come to give you a warning. Do not attack the Lichen army
tomorrow, or you'll regret greatly. Heed my warning, and leave this land
forever," she spoke up.
"You are insane to even consider speaking like that to me. I have for my
entire life witnessed Lichen and their brutal ways. If we'd stop the war they'd
attack us when we’d least expected it. We'd turn back into slaves, and that's
something I shall not allow to happen. If you came all the way here just to
tell me that, you've wasted your time," Inoer told to the woman.
"I see. It is a shame that I must resort to this. It is truly, a
shame," she said, giving a sigh.
Suddenly, the woman opened her cloak a little and pulled a crying baby from
there.
"W-what is this madness?!..... That... That... That's not my daughter... It… Can’t be…" he
gagged.
"Would you really take a chance, that you are incorrect?" the woman
spoke up.
The baby began to cry, even more hysterically.
"You are mad, threatening something so defenseless. If you don't leave
now, I'll....." Inoer started to say but was cut off short.
"If you move even one inch, I'll rip her guts out in front of your
eyes," the woman spoke.
Inoer lost his ability to remain calm as he snapped "You're insane!"
"Perhaps so, but hear out my demands now. You lower your weapons and never come back, or you'll see me rip
her stuffings out," she spoke up.
"F... Fine... I'll give up, but.... Promise me not to harm her..."
Inoer finally said and dropped his sword.
The woman grinned as she gave a snap with a finger. Immediately, a small pack
of soldiers, who had been hiding surrounded Inoer and restrained him.
The woman gave a demonic grin. And with one swift move, she threw the baby down
from the mountain. The baby was crushed and killed in an instant. The scream
was short.
"NOOOOO!!!" Inoer cried out as the woman
began to laugh and someone hit him hard, making everything go dark.

Chapter 1: The side that fights
for what they believe in
Major Melisa the Great War chief of Lichen admired the decapitated head, of her
long time nemesis Inoer.
"Whoever sent me this gift has done me a great service indeed. However, for
some reason... I am left hollow inside. I can see you laughing at me from the
afterlife Inoer. Laughing, for falling in love with my sworn enemy," she
spoke to the head on the pole.
She was at the bridge leading towards her people’s capitol. After the word of
the rebels’ best troop's demise had reached her, she had wanted to see it
herself.
"Deep in my soul, I had hoped it had been just a mere rumor.... I had
always dreamt of us two having a mighty duel ‘til death to find out who was
truly more favored by gods. Now, my soul may never find rest and I may never
know who of us would have stood as victorious in the end. I just hope your
death was as honorable as you deserved," she continued to speak while this
time looking more sad.
She gazed up at the sky.
"What a shame indeed.... Such a waste of a magnificent warrior...."
she mumbled.
Then suddenly, she noticed herself being watched by some woman in a dark cloak.
"Who are you? State you business!" Melisa screamed, while taking hold
of her sword.
The woman raised her right hand up "Groeten, Major. I apologize for
eavesdropping, but I mean no harm. I am the person, responsible for his
demise."
"Who are you?" Melisa asked.
The woman smiled and lowered his hand "I've been called by many names,
most of which have the same meaning. Ela sem um nome,
La sin nombre, Nimetön. But my associates have referred to me as Jenny."
"She who has no name, eh? So, why come talk to me
about this?" Melisa questioned the woman.
"Considering the favour I did for you and to your army, wouldn't it be
only fair to ask something in return?" Jenny asked.
"It depends what you want, since we are going through hard times, so I
cannot give much in gold nor cows," Melisa
replied.
Jenny laughed and shook her head "It is neither fancy jewelry nor herd of
cows I'd want. I want your daughter."
"W-what?!? My daughter??? What
for?!" Melisa exclaimed, not able to hide her shock.
The cloaked woman grinned "My reasons are of my own and I shall not share
them to you."
"I'd have to be insane to give in my daughter to a person who just happens
to ask for her! Leave now or I'll cut your head off Sorceress!" Melisa
screamed.
"Oh, what a shame, what a shame. And I thought, you would want to become
the queen of Lichen," Jenny said.
"Wait.... Queen? I... Never have... I… Respect my
king… " Melisa tried to speak, but Jenny
interrupted her.
"I have seen into your mind. You hunger for the power of the throne.
You've seen that the king of Lichen is weak and old. You know, you'd do things
better than him. You know it’s your destiny to rule your people. But there are
many obstacles in front of you, and I can help you overcome these... Minor
problems… If you give me what I want, that is," Jenny spoke up.
Melisa looked down.
"But....….. I love her...." she finally said.
Jenny’s voice sounded like it’d echo in Melisa’s head, as she was mesmerized by
the words "I know it is a hard decision to make. While you say you love
her, you can't deny your lust. You do want to be a ruler. And in your mind, you
think of betraying me too and not giving your daughter away once you are the
ruler. You would rather have me beheaded and cursed.”
"H-how did you…" Melisa began to gaggle but was cut off again.
"I cannot blame you for this. I'd too, probably want to betray in your
position, if I'd have a need for it. But trust me; I don't see a point for
something such as that. Since the decision may be hard to make, I will give you
a week of time to consider. During this time, I'll come visit you each day,
‘til you make your decision," Jenny spoke before she turned to walk away.
Just then Melisa had enough and she yelled "Who do you think you are??! I
come from the line of great warriors and I'm one of the most respected Majors
to ever live!! How dare you turn your back at me and make demands and inane
deals, as if you'd be a better woman than me you pitiful harlot?!"
Jenny stopped moving and turned to face Melisa.
"Melisa for this one time I shall forgive you for raising your tone of
voice at me. But never, ever make the mistake again," she said with a
stern voice.
"....... I sensed you are magi, already the first time I saw you. But,
something is different in you…. What is
your story?" Melisa asked.
"All will come clear, if you play your cards correct Major," Jenny
replied, before turning again and continuing to walk off.

Chapter
2: The side who suffers from the fight
"Cumprimentos, mistress," captain of the rebel army spoke.
"Cumprimentos, soldier. Where is my father?" the young girl
asked.
"They.... They killed him. He was butchered cowardly. We weren't even able
to recover the remains without risking more loss of troops," the captain
admitted, with tears in his eyes.
The captain then fell on his knees and held his sword before him.
"I
have failed to protect my master and your father. Please, claim my life as a
token of my grief." he sobbed.
The daughter of Inoer went close to the captain and hugged him close.
"I don't need your blood to be spilled o’ mighty soldier. I know that you
were loyal to my father and you would have given your life for him if you had
the chance. Grieve with me, instead of ending your life," she spoke up.
"Thank you Mistress..... I shall serve you with my life and sing in honor
of your father tonight. He was a great soldier and one of the greatest men I’ve
ever known," the captain spoke up.
The girl nodded "Yes... But this shall not be the end. This instead is the
new beginning. We shall not rest, ‘til each Lichen
lies dead on the ground as retribution for this."
The battle has ended. But the war has
just started.
