"A New Start"

Chp. 08: What Matters Most (2/3)

"Step aside Tamers, we'll handle this." Says the leading Saver with a Gaomon by his side.

"I'm sure you will." Responds Yoshi, "although, if you want to be done quick, you better take down that energy core there, is the one powering Gesomon up."

"Squad A: Surround the target and stun it. Squad B: stand by for further instructions. Gaomon, let's bring it down."

"Yes, Captain." The Gaomon replies as it prepares to attack.

"Eh, we tried that before..." Comments Ryu, trying to explain. But the Saver sent Gaomon ahead before he had time to finish his sentence.

In a single jump, Gaomon goes into the air over the target in mind, descending to it.

"GAO RUSH!" He prepares to deliver to the core his powerful barrage of punches. But before he could get within range of them, the tips of the sphere's antennas glow red and the force field protecting it makes itself visible and covering a much larger radius than before. This takes Gaomon by surprise and ends up crashing on it and the charges sends him flying back to the spot he came from, although able to regain control and land on his feet a little stunned.

"A force field." Thinks the Saver who doesn't know quite well yet the situation.

"We tried to tell you," continues Ryu, "that thing protects itself with that barrier from Digimon attacks. For far we've been able to...

"The target seems to be a mobile energy generator." The Saver uses a computer attached to his arm, scanning it, "its sending wave patterns to Gesomon to alter its basic stats and increasing its level."

"I could've told you that," replies Mia to this.

"That generator is also receiving signals that feeds it with the data to alter Gesomon. It's very weak, but its wave pattern indicate is not far away from here. Commence tracing."

Mia decides to stay silent at this point, quite aware that such information was unknown to her. At the same time the other Savers were launching a large number of cables around the Gesomon to keep him in place in the event that he woke up again.

Aqua keeps a constant look on them. She was told by Ryu that Savers were like Tamers, except it was their duty to stop Digimon who roamed wildly from provoking accidents of any kind, but she couldn't help to think that their presence feels and look different from what she usually feels from a Tamer. And that Digimon standing by his side, his presence feels equally different, although his behavior might be the reason behind it, specially when she tries to look at this yellow eyes from where she is, behind Yoshi and not quite in front of him, his sight placed on the floating core over the lake without wandering his vision. Then sharply turns his sight to Aqua, surprising her, although the Digimon did not react to this, but still retained that determination in his eyes.

"I'm Gaomon." He said, expecting this to answer the question she might have in mind, "You're AquaVmon, if not mistaken." His glance change to a simple stare to more of observing, seeing her every detail.

"Y...Yes." She replies shyly, still surprise by him.

She stands still there, wondering what was in his mind, for he appears to have some sort of thought that discomforted him.

It was then, that he spoke his mind:

"What does Yoshi sees in you?" He express, disregarding what such comment may have upon her, which stroke into her like a lethal gunshot.

It haven't crossed her mind that much lately, aside of those of whether she was worthy of Yoshi's time to train, and those feeling of insecurity had just resurface. She remembers how strong the presence of Uma and Thana was, indication to her of the experience and strength behind each of them, making herself sound weak.

And those thoughts came back to her mind. Is she worth Yoshi's time? Can she be as strong as Thana or Uma? The confidence she as just acquire from the present day has begun breaking down.

"Yoshi?" The Saver heard his Digimon say in his private conversation, looking then at the Tamers in front of him, paying more attention about them, finding with the use of his computer that the one standing directly in front of him is, indeed, Yoshi (Just in case you're wondering, yes, this Saver is based on Touma H. Norstein from Digimon Savers, that's why he seems familiar.)

"Well," he says, apparently resenting something about him, but also sounding like a mock, "two Digimon Emperors are present. Whatever reason you had to come out of your mansion, Yoshi?"

(Also, in this universe, a 'Dgmn Emperor' is the title given to a Tamer who has earned the 'King of Tamers' title more than thrice.)

"Well," Responds Yoshi, acting like he doesn't mind he way he spoke to him, "my friends and I were simply on a day of relaxation like pretty much everyone who were here, when this Gesomon appeared from the bottom of the lake via Digi-portal. We engaged it but proved to increase in power at dramatic speed."

"Still, It seems you had it under control, barely."

Then, wandering his sight to see the other Tamers closely, he noticed Aqua standing by Yoshi's side.

"An AquaVmon?" He asked, sounding surprised, "have you finally lost your ability of judgment on Digimon by bringing such weak thing to battle?"

Another casted stone has hit Aqua.

"Weak?" She thinks within, "I'm not weak...Am I?..."

She starts to questions even her own words. Can it be that all this time she was actually not meant to be strong? That might have explained why she couldn't win battles in the first place, because of her natural state. But what about the battle with Knightmon? She was able to beat him easily.

"Actually my judgment is better than ever," she heard Yoshi replying, looking up to him, "not only she's been more than I could anticipate, she has watched my back effectively, and able to knock-cold that nearly over-powerful Gesomon."

"Did she? That's strange; normally her kind, in spite of being ultra rare, doesn't tend to be strong. At lv. 50 they barely have the stats of those on 30."

"She just increased from 12 to 17 in one battle."

"Ha! That's a laugh. But it should make sense since you had a choice between that, a physically-impaired one, or a threat to society."

"Hey!" Reacts Mia at that comment, "Don't speak of Yoshi's Di..."

Yoshi stops her by lifting his hand in the air, remaining calmed under such attack.

"Some may still see them like you said," speaks Yoshi, "but I don't. I try to see aside the 'who they are now' or 'who they used to be', in order to see 'who they can become', because they aren't beyond redemption, and can be more than what they believe to be."

As he feels it, Yoshi's sight crosses to Aqua's eyes towards him, patting her head with his right hand, "some need to be reminded occasionally." Aqua could feel the sincerity of those words, and how sure were Yoshi's beliefs in her. Then his sight wanders to Gaomon, who for some reason seems to have been paying attention to his every words, their eyes crossing with each other. Yoshi knows why this looks in the Digimon's glance.

"Some know that already." Yoshi speaks then at that second as his vision goes back to the Saver. Gaomon's sight stood confused on him for a few seconds, wondering what exactly was the Tamer talking about, then returns to look at Aqua who keeps looking up to him.

"But in the end," Yoshi continues, "what I'm trying to do, is show that all have a greater potential...

"Oh, please." Interrupts the Saver, "just because you managed to come back from The Darkness, doesn't mean you are a 'miracle worker'."

"HEY!!" Kiru reacted to his insinuation, but Yoshi also stops him with the raise of his hand. Aqua apparently in the dark about what is going on. What was The Darkness? What did Yoshi had to do with it? She thought Yoshi had told her everything about him, maybe it was something too important to him, and he wasn't prepared to tell Aqua about it, but that unknowledge starts to bug her.

"Digimon aren't like humans," she hears the Saver speak, "the data that conforms them is limited and is the straps that marks the limits and character of a Digimon. No matter what is done, what kind of life it lives, a Digimon will never be more than what his data marks. A human is not bound a hundred percent to these terms, and we are capable of much more dimensions of emotion and capacities that a Digimon can't ever acquire. I know that, because Gaomon's data inquires he cannot evolve beyond Ultimate level, and it has been so since I've tried a DigiSoul Charge Overdrive with no effect. No amount of emotion or bond between us is going to make a difference."

"I don't believe so, Tozuma." Replies Yoshi simply.

"...What?" The Saver reacts in disbelief, "how do you..."

The Saver looks at Yoshi cautiously, trying to understand how did he had such knowledge of himself, having a strange but unlikely sensation where he believed he seemed to know him.

"...You're a dying breed, Yoshi." Tozuma expressed, irritated, wanting to express to him all the things he sees in his kind.

But a strong roar fills the air of the lake, making all of them see Gesomon recovering himself with such force that the restraints holding hi snap or get loose as the Savers begin fighting it, but their attacks result ineffective as the Digimon begins to move toward the center of the lake.

At that moment, the black sphere in the sky begun to emit a humming sound as the lights on its antennas enlights in a much brighter dolor blue.

"The sphere has reactivated," the Saver checks on his computer, "and its transferring data into the Digimon, at this rate...

A bright glow begun surrounding the Digimon, covering it completely, such intensity is the light it dims all around it as it shapes into an egg.

"Is it digivolving?" Asks Aqua looking at this event.

"Is not just a Digivolution." Responds Yoshi, "It's the Warp kind, he's going to skip the Ultimate Level and go all the way to Mega."

"Mia," he speaks to her then, "Datamon said Digimon and their attacks cannot approach the sphere. What about people?"

Mia is unsure of the purpose of the question, but Datamon was prompt to answer.

"The force field only reacts to Digimon, so it's safe for a person to reach it."

"Kiru, can Ryu turn into Cyberdramon one last time?"

"He hasn't recovered that much energy, but we can still try Biomerging. Otherwise he'll be Strikedramon."

"Justimon it is then. Mia, Kiru and Ryu will take you as close as possible to the sphere, once in range you can get on it and disarm it."

"What?" She asks, nervous of his proposition

"Hold on a minute." Enters Tozuma, "I'm the one in charge here, and I believe I told to you step aside."

"All right then, both of you go."

The Saver is irritated by his attitude.

"No matter how many of us fight against him we wont be able to revert him to a Digitama (DigiEgg) or delete him unless we permanently disable that machine, and if we don't do it now there's no telling what might happen. You two have the best knowledge of this thing, so you have to do what you can to deactivate it, meanwhile the rest of us will keep him away from you."

"...All right." The Saver replies, taking his D-iC Digivice in hand, "Gaomon, let's get ready first."

"Yes, Captain."

As the Saver rises his Digivice to chest level, his body seems to have some sort of reaction. Aqua could feel a strange power surfacing from within this human, a source she couldn't understand and never felt before. And in front of her eyes, the Savers got surrounded by a strange clouds of blue that seems made of data, kinda like the pieces of floating data she as seen when a wild Digimon gets beaten in battle, but this was indeed different. This energy throughout his entire body then concentrated on his right hand, which he swiftly placed over a opening on his Digivice, and a strong stream of light forced out of it.

"DIGISOUL! FULL CHARGE!!" The Saver yells as the stream crossed the space between himself and Gaomon.

"GAOMON DIGIVOLVE TO..."

The Digimon began his transformation, she was amazed at the light that surrounded him, a tone of sky blue with white as his body shapes into a much larger form

"Ryu! Let's do it!" She hears Kiru's voice now, his D-Arc Digivice glowing a light purple.

"I'm ready!" The Digimon responded.

"BIOMERGE, ACTIVATE!!!"

The light from his Digivice instead of shooting out and surrounding Ryu only, the glow of the Digivice gets released as a bubble that enclosed both Kiru and Ryu, who glows within the bathing light of the Digivice and both silhouettes begin to get close to each other.

"MONODRAMON, BIOMERGE TO..."

"Aqua! Let's go!" She hears Yoshi's voice then, holding a Digicard on his hand and sliding it across his Digivice, "CARD SLASH! AQUA ARMOR!!"

The sea blue light has once again poured out of his Digivice and surrounded Aqua in its warm embrace, letting her feel once more the same flow and rush of energy and power throughout her entire being as her body begins shaping into her Armor Champion level.

"AQUAVMON, ARMOR DIGIVOLVE TO...AQUARIVAMON!!"

As the light that embraces her disappears, she was able to see how the others around her had turned out to be, being more amazed than ever before.

When the blue glow surrounding Gaomon that resembles now more to the shine of the moon dissipates, she sees now another Digimon that was new to her.

He is large, the red belt with a wolf symbol for a clip was just above her head, his muscular body of blue fur mostly covered by a black and white vestment of pants and sleeveless shirt with shoulder pads held to his body by under straps. His feet and part of his legs that weren't covered by his pants seemed to be protected by cybernetic boots that molded to his feet tightly in gray and red, although she finds it funny how the feet end with three strange black sticks with a red tip that she guess are suppose to be his toes. Then when her sight goes back to his upper-body she noticed the shine of the setting sunlight reflecting upon the metal of the large gloves that goes from his hands to his whole forearms, seeming rather uncomfortable to have on, specially with that strange thing behind attached to his back like a pair of thin turbines from a jet along with a long, blue strap that appears to resemble his tail. His chest proudly wearing as well a large, red belt of the likes she has seen a couple of times n a sports show on TV, like the ones a world champion would receive upon defeating someone. The belt strapped to himself from over his left shoulder and beneath his right arm without completely blocking her sight to his chest mane of a pale-blue that goes all around and behind his neck where she then sees his eyes, still golden and full with determination under that pair of shades standing above then along with the facial features that made him look less of a dog and more of a wolf.

"MACHGAOGAMON!!" She hears his voice ever so potent, which made her flinch slightly for the sudden surprise.

And as she turns to see what has become of Ryu and Kiru, she contemplates the sphere of glowing purple light brake like glass, revealing a Digimon that seems more human whose whole body is protected by a cybernetic armor and helmet, with a large and long blood-red scarf around his neck that reach for the ground. His silver right arm seems to be more mechanic than the rest of his being.

"JUSTIMON!!" She hears him say, which then made her wonder where has Kiru gone to as she can't see him anywhere.

"Allow us, madam." She hears the Justimon speak to Mia as he sweeps her off her feet and carries her in his arms.

"Wow...I..." She doesn't know what to say, being both excited and embarrassed of having a Tamer she admires holding her like this as he with her flies up to the sphere.

"Let's go, MachGaogamon!" The Saver orders as his Digimon brings down his hands together to let him climb to his shoulder.

"Yes, Captain!" As he reply to his orders, MachGaogamon's turbines on his back fire up and he flies up at great speed, leaving a stale of blue light as he goes and floats over the sphere in a matter of seconds.

"All Units! Attack the Digimon!" The Saver ordered through his communicator to those under his command, and so they all digivolve to their highest of levels and fired a the same time towards the cracking data egg, creating a large explosion that lifts a curtain of smoke, hiding the Digimon.

"Come on Aqua!" Yoshi says as he begins running around the border of the lake, "we have to buy them time!" But as he dash a few meters, he doesn't hear a reply from her, he doesn't even hear her steps behind him. For which he stops and looks behind, to find Aqua standing still, looking at her own hands, "Aqua?"

The power, the strength she felt coming from those Digimon is so overwhelming to her. She can feel a power that is greater than she has ever felt, even greater than those she has felt from the many Champions and Ultimates she had to mess forcefully by Marika. But what about her own power? Her powers are new to her, but she still feels below the level at which the others were, starting to think that her power wouldn't be enough to do something in this situation.

She has never won a battle before, little know one of this proportions, against a Mega. She has newly found power, but that wont be enough to help in anything. 'What does Yoshi sees in you?' The question made by Gaomon to her keeps running on her mind, breaking little by little down the confidence she had built so far. She wants to believe she is strong, she wants to believe she has the potential Yoshi was speaking about earlier, that she is as strong as she believes to be, but then the Saver spoke of the natural state of weakness of her kind, how no matter how much a Digimon believes or tries, wont be more than what its data marks.

Is that it then? All those battles lost in the past were because it wasn't in her data to start with? Because the inner power is not great enough to bring such levels to obtain victory? Was then the battle with Knightmon a fluke?

"Can I be strong?" She thinks to herself, "Can I be of any help?...or...Am I...Am I still useless?...Was...Marika right about me?"

"This is not the time to be doubting yourself, Aqua!" She hears Yoshi speaking to her, walking back to her position, making her raise her sight back to him.

"Yoshi...I..."

"This battle will require your entire focus, it may be the greatest challenge you'll ever face to...

"Yoshi. What do you see in me?"

"Huh?"

"Please, tell me. What do you see in me? Why do you rest your faith in me?"

Yoshi understands now the motive behind Aqua's trouble, seeing inside her blue-sad glance that shown signs of tears forming. He walks to her until he stands in front of her, holding her hands and caressing them slightly to then take a hand to caress her throat. She momentary drifts her sight to the side but he brings it back to lock onto his own eyes.

"I see a Digimon that has many doubts." Begins Yoshi, "a Digimon whose heart is still afraid, splintered by the fear that she may not be more than she believes to be. Because you keep thinking you're not strong...that you might be useless...

"Then why?" She asks, "Why having such faith in me?"

"To show you do have the strength. The strength that allowed to defeat Knightmon, the strength that knocked out cold that Gesomon...the strength that told you to keep on living, and the one that lets you smile...

Aqua feels a strange peace soothed by his words.

"You have a great power, Aqua. Maybe it wont make you the most powerful Digimon in existence, but it will let you do things that you thought you could never do, whether is in your data or not. So yes, Aqua, you may not be strong enough, but if we work together, you don't have to be. If we work together, you will see, there's nothing to fear. All right?"

Aqua soon begins to realize his words, though still having a few worries inside about her own worth as his partner. But she was made aware that she doesn't need to be strong if they both worked together.

Teamwork, that is still a new and untried concept to her. She remembers then a day when she was badly wounded after a battle with a Orochimon, how the Ultimate Digimon threw her around like a rag doll, sometime some of the snake heads would lick her every corner while the others bit her with their paralyzing venom...while Marika was watching safely behind a tree many feet away. When the Orochimon grew tired of playing with her he simply threw her into the air and sent her flying through the forest, landing violently over a tree and crashing with the ground because the branches broke with the impact, laying motionless on the ground with all her wounds bleeding and too exhausted to even cry in pain.

But in the distance, on a clear space of grass within that forest, he saw another girl Tamer with her Biyomon, fighting a ToyAgumon.

The Biyomon seemed to be in trouble, the ToyAgumon getting ready to deliver a final attack, but her Tamer did a quick move than hit the Digimon with a large branch she was able to find close by, giving her Digimon the time to attack and defeat the ToyAgumon. Both hugging each other and screaming in excitement for their victory.

She wanted to scream for their help, but her throat was too sore, and tired. All she could do was watch them both celebrating their victory, capable of hearing Biyomon thanking her Tamer for backing her up, the Tamer replying how she would never let her down, or alone, holding each other by the hand as they begun walking away from the place. Aqua still trying to yell, but only able to cry, no longer because of the pain, but because she could not understand why Marika didn't help her at all, while this Tamer helped Biyomon without hesitation.

Just barely now she begun to understand, that together as one were strong, where alone were weak.

"Th...Thank you, Yoshi." She speaks then to him, feeling much better inside after hearing his words of encouragement. At that moment as well, Yoshi rose his hand to her, Aqua knowing about it she rose hers and united both hands to handshake firmly, a smile coming back to her face.

"Now let's kick some Digi-butt." Yoshi says.

"I'm right beside you, Yoshi." She replies, looking at the Digimon arising from the smoke the various attacks the Saver's Digimon used, revealing the Digimon to be complete and intact.

"A Pleciomon, eh?" Says Yoshi, taking Digicards in hand, "stay clear of his mouth and tail, he can shoot sand and water respectively from them. Now let's go!"

* * * * * * * * * *

A few meters away from the lake, far above in the sky, the figure of an Aquilamon flies towards the spot where the explosions have been going on.

"Why didn't I think this sooner?" Asks Izhume to herself, admiring the scenery on the back of her Digimon, "this is much faster than any vehicle."

"Wow, what a view!" Her cameraman, Kudo, said as he catches it all on camera.

"Try to save some tape, would ya? This may be the greatest story we've covered yet."

At that moment, she can feel the rumble feature of her cell phone going off, answering it to find out who it is.

"Izhume?" She hears the voice on the other line.

"Boss? What's up?" She asks, knowing this person on the phone to be her boss and editor of the newspaper and TV station she works for.

"Have you hear of the commotion going on at the lake out of the city?"

"Actually I saw it from afar. right now I'm flying on Kaiser to get there, I should arrive any second."

"Good work. Get as much footage and info you can, another reporter who was on her day off over there will brief you on what she knows."

"Okay chief, see you later." And she hangs up, noticing that they have arrived to their destination and was able to see how the whole area, starting from the parking lots, was blocked by barricades and many vehicles she knows belongs to the Savers.

Nearing landing, she sees a girl waving at them, thinking her to be the reporter the editor talked about, and quickly spoke to her as Kaiser de-evolved into Hawkmon, receiving from her all the information about what has been going on from the Gesomon wrecking havoc to the present situation before she was made move out by the Savers.

"So not only is Yoshi truly here but also Kiru?!" Izhume asks, really excited, "Great! And, was there an AquaVmon with him?"

"Yes," she replies, "I know that because I was surprised, I haven't seen one of those in years."

"Perfect! This is our chance."

"Be careful, those Savers have the place well secured, I can't find a way in anymore."

"Don't worry, I'm a Tamer. Kudo, get close to me. Watch this now: CARD SLASH! STEALTH CLOAK!!"

As the Digicard finishes loading, a field surrounds Kaiser who slowly becomes transparent. At this point Izhume and Kudo grab his hands and they as well become transparent to the point the three of them became invisible now to the naked eye.

This way they were able to easily sneak pass the many Savers and Digimon guarding the encircling area, to then make their way to the chunk of forest and the many desolated games and tents within the amusement park as they hear the sound of explosions and hits and yelling that gets louder as they approached. Once they got close to a fortune wheel that is a few feet away from the lake with an excellent view, Kudo turns his camera on and begins recording on a new disc all the battle going on around the place. Indicating Izhume holding a microphone that he is picking up everything perfectly.

"This is Izhume Kazima reporting from the southeast lake of the city." She begins speaking to the camera, since the three of them were inside the range of the 'Stealth Cloak' Digicard, the three of them were visible, "where right now a spectacular yet dangerous battle is taking place. Just moments ago, the Gesomon that appeared from the bottom of this lake has digivolved into Pleciomon, a Mega Level Digimon that is giving more than the Savers can handle."

"As you can see through our camera, there is at least twenty Digimon between Champion and Ultimate levels fighting Pleciomon with everything they have, without much effect. A few minutes ago we were informed by a fellow reporter in the area," she points at a spot in the sky, Kudo following it to point his camera towards the black sphere that has two people mounted on it, "that that spherical object that looks like some sort of satellite, is an energy core that has been powering the Digimon and is rendering him invulnerable to the attacks he's been receiving. As you can see as well there's two people over this devices, one of them clearly a Saver, in an attempt to disarm it with a Datamon floating close by."

"Also to everyone's surprise," Kudo's camera zooms in onto a specific part of the battle scene near the right side of the lake, at that spot he can pick up the figure of a person very close to Pleciomon, jumping from a piece of floating wreck to another as he dodges Pleciomon's attacks, "James 'Yoshi' Hayatse, the world-renowned Tamer, as well as Kiru Kusaka as Justimon; both who had the fortune of being at the scene before it happened, have been fighting this Digimon long before the Savers arrived."

As the camera keeps a lock on Yoshi who runs into a dead end where he has no place to jump to and the Pleciomon about to launch another 'Sand Water Blast', a golden-armored dragon-Digimon appeared from the right-side of the screen and swept Yoshi away from the spot before the large stream of watery sand hit, both landing at shore opposite side of them as Yoshi seems to slash a Digicard, zooming in to them.

"As we observe more closely, it appears that Yoshi has found himself a new partner. Is not possible at the time to identify it, but due to the similarities to a Flamedramon, it is assumable that is an Aquarivamon." Aqua jumps into the air and lands on the shoulder of MachGaogamon, who dashes to Pleciomon and attacks with his 'Winning Knuckle' Attack with his large, cybernetic gauntlet while Aquarivamon seems to be surrounded by blue flames as she tackles Pleciomon. "AQUA COMET!" It can be heard from her as she impacts right beside the fist of MachGaogamon, knocking Pleciomon's head and splashing with the water as both of them retreat from the rising water as Justimon finishes it off with his 'Blitz Arm' attack.

"Right now the battle seems to be more leveled," Adds Izhume, "but unless the sphere is disabled this battle may just not be over. I'll try now to get us as close to the action as possible to give you a much clearer view of the situation. Please, stay with us. And don't worry, we are being protected by a 'Stealth Cloak', so we wont be hurt by a missing attack."

"Really?" Whispers Kudo, shutting down the audio from his camera for a second.

"Just shut up and follow me." She replies, trying not to make much of a noise since they are invisible, but not unheardable

* * * * * * * * * *

"He's too strong." Thinks MachGaogamon out loud, floating down to shore, "we can't possibly keep this up forever."

"We can't give up," speaks Aquarivamon who jumped to his shoulder, "we must give Mia and Tozuma the time they need to deactivate the sphere."

"You are not to call the Captain by his first name. And when did I allowed you to sit on my shoulder?"

"Oh, very sorry. But there's no need to be mean." She says as she got down on him when they are about to touch the ground.

"Then next time, ask. Is impolite to do something like that without asking."

"Sorry, I'll do so next time."

As they wait on shore, the rest of the Digimon and Savers begin the attack over Pleciomon, overwhelming it easily, but still moving at a speed and precision that made it difficult for them to land any strikes, specially when he starts to dive deep into the lake to evade them easier and then attack from beneath it, weakening some of those Digimon to a point where they de-evolve back to Rookie form and fall unconscious in the water or shore, those on the water rescued by Justimon and other Digimon and taken to shore as the battle seems to keep going without any sign of improvement.

"Your previous attack was interesting." Aqua hears MachGaogamon speak, without leaving sight of the battle. She is kind of estranged at how different the tone of his voice is towards her than it was previously. "Was it called, 'Aqua Comet'?"

"Uh, y...yes." She replies, feeling strange that this Digimon who almost insulted her a while ago speaks to her in a more respectful manner.

"It had a mild punch to it, but if you had some solid ground to impulse yourself from it would have much more power...Still, you should be honored."

"Honored?"

"Up to this day, none in the Real or Digital World has seen beyond the form of an AquaVmon or their attacks. As the Captain said, your species doesn't tend to be powerful. Normally an AquaVmon is considered more for companion or playmate status, and since there's so few, none were ever raised to fight. There were Digimon legends that spoke of Aquarivamon as one of their Digivolutions, but there weren't any real evidence of that. You are the very first Aquarivamon the world has ever seen, no one knows what kind of power is hidden within you, maybe not even your own Tamer...or yourself."

At a moment's notice, Pleciomon sent down the last Saver Digimon back to its Rookie form and swims towards MachGaogamon and Aquarivamon. Mach ready to make a move.

"I see the weak spot above the left frontal fin. From this point on Aquarivamon, you alone will be making history for your kind. Will you grow stronger from this point on? Or will you just fade with time to become another myth?"

"I...I just want to be the best I can be. I might or may never reach my Mega form, but all I want it to do my best and see how far I can go, to prove t myself my worth...and if I had the power to knock a Champion unconscious on my Rookie form, then I'll have the power to defeat him in my Champion form if I and Yoshi keep working together."

"Mhhh, interesting." MachGaogamon sounds interested in her words, but inside his thoughts are knotting together, "I don't know, why this sounds familiar?"

"Say," She adds afterwards as the Pleciomon is close to them, "Can I support myself on your shoulder for the next attack?"

"Is not 'Can I', is 'May I'." He replies, preparing to move.

"May I then?"

"...huh, Affirmative."

As the Pleciomon fired a 'Sorrow Blue' Attack, MachGaogamon flies away from the sound shockwave as it hits the ground and lifts sand and dirt into the air, the nearby Savers trying their best to lead their injured Digimon away from harm. When MachGaogamon was high above the sky, concentrated on aiming at the Digimon's weak spot, he is surprised at finding Aquarivamon holding on to his left arm.

"When did she grab on to me?" He thinks.

"Excuse me. May I now use your arm as a wall?"

"What?"

Without having much time to respond, he sees then how Aquarivamon moves to the cyber-glove and grab-on to it, once she appears to be in balance, she leans forth with only her feet touching the glove. Once her body is facing downwards to the Pleciomon, with all her might makes a jump away from MachGaogamon, launching herself like a missile from him at incredible speed as those same blue blazes begin surrounding her body.

"Well, what do you know. She did listen." He thinks, looking at his arm as he himself rockets to the same spot, trying to catch up with Aqua, although he could still feels a shiver on his arm, "that kicking jump was strong for an Armor-Champion."

"Aqua!!" He then hears a voice at shore, able to catch with a glimpse Yoshi slashing a Digicard.

"CARDSLASH! PLATINUM SWORD!!"

With the card fully loaded, a thick broadsword of gold and silver coloring, similar to Knightmon's, materialized on Aqua's back, further enhancing her powers and enlarging the flames that surrounds her. MachGaogamon able to catch up with her but trying to keep his distance to avoid being burned by the flames.

But as they are about to hit the target, there seems to be a change in Aqua. As MachGaogamon prepares to use 'Winning Knuckle', Aquarivamon's blue flames begin to flow and concentrate on her right golden gauntlet now glowing blue with the three-red jewels glowing stronger. This gives Mach the chance of getting closer and have better aim over the weak spot with all of his power.

"WINNING KNUCKLE!!" He unleashes his strongest punch over Pleciomon.

"TIDAL KNUCKLE!!" She unleashes hers as well, creating a blue flash that leaves her gauntlet upon impact.

But as the strike Aqua delivered is done, the blue energy she left on Pleciomon formed into a second punch that strikes the Digimon again like a small shooting star, forcing it to sink underwater.

"What was that?" MachGaogamon thinks, not quite understanding how did she managed to do that kind of attack, then again, he did say no one has seen an Aquarivamon before or their attacks, so the capacities of her are still unclear as of now.

"Now, Aqua!" He hears the voice of her Tamer, "go under!"

As he says this, Mach can see Aqua immediately hit the water and dive into the lake, unsure of what are they thinking of doing next.

"CARDSLASH!" He hears Yoshi load the next cards, "WATERPROOF!! DEPTH CHARGE!!"

Aqua meanwhile, from beneath the water surface and well over 10 feet below the stunned body of Pleciomon, waits for the powers of Yoshi's Digicards to take effect.

She doesn't know who she's doing it. She doesn't know how she managed to make those previous attacks she hasn't seen before. She understands that many Digimon have that same experience, but is still strange to perform actions she doesn't know so naturally, adding to this that she isn't sure how can she aim and focus herself with precision where she couldn't even land a strike ever in her life before joining Yoshi. Does this have to do with her own power, or with the power she got by working together with Yoshi?

Soon she is compelled to clash her hands together, causing small-blue energy bubbles that almost blended with the water around her, still confused but assured that it would be fine, those bubbles fusing in between her hands as the Pleciomon seems to regain stability and approach to attack her. Just at that moment Justimon dives into the water and created a small electric field with his 'Voltage Blade' Attack, stopping Pleciomon for a moment as his attention diverted to him.

Aqua soon had a large sphere of blue energy on her hands, not all sure at how it would work, but she feels this would be enough to do the job. Then, once she feels the moment is appropriate, she extends her arms forth and releases the energy she has gathered.

"AQUA DISPERSE!!" She unleashes her attack. For a moment this energy disappears, which makes her worry that she might have done it wrong, but two seconds later a massive beam of blue energy, resembling an underwater torrent, rushed to Pleciomon's whole body and forced it not only out of the water, but 20 feet into the air, Justimon barely able to avoid sharing the Digimon's fate.

"Wow!" He expresses telepathically, "Careful! I'm on your side!"

"Sorry, so sorry." She apologizes, since she's able to speak underwater, "I didn't know it would be that strong."

* * * * * * * * * *

"Done!" Mia expresses as she cuts the last wire to deal with.

"Will this deactivate the core?" Asks The Saver, Tozuma.

"No, there's no real way to shut it down manually, so I brought down the defense system so that our Digimon can destroy it."

"In such case, give me a second."

"What are you doing?" She asks as she watches him remove a piece of the internal software.

"I'm going to need a piece intact so I can figure out who made this thing."

"Data, as soon as we get down from...

A loud splash is heard as they are surprise at seeing Pleciomon flying into the sky, followed by a blue beam of energy that comes from the depths of the lake, event that creates a shockwave all around and pushes them off balance, falling at almost 15 meters from the water.

Fortunately Datamon is capable of reaching them before they hit the water hard and floats them with difficulty to shore where Yoshi is.

"That was close." Mia says as she sets foot on the ground, "but, what on earth just happened there?"

"Forget that." Says Tozuma, pointing at the sky, "what is happening there?"

And when their attention goes into that sky than as begun shading its colors of red and orange of the sunset and the starts and the full moon arisen with the nearing dark blue of the night sky...they see Pleciomon, floating in mid-air.

The Digimon has already reached the point of drop from the 'Aqua Disperse' it received, but the Digimon stood still in the sky without plummeting back to the lake, standing still, none of the people present on location can understand what was happening.

* * * * * * * * * *

"An incredible turn of events has happened here, folks!" Izhume speaks in surprise as Kudo aims his camera towards the floating Pleciomon. "The Pleciomon that has been sent underwater by the combined forces of MachGaogamon and Yoshi's Aquarivamon, and afterwards sent to the skies by a large beam of energy, is now floating in mid-air! We cannot explain how can this be possible but...What on earth?!"

The camera can capture the whole thing, an events that pushes the current event to an even higher level of bizarrity...after the Pleciomon had unleashed a strong, screeching roar that can be heard from almost 20 miles away, breaking all windows nearby, triggering car alarms, and causing all sorts of electronic devices to short-circuit or go berserk, his eyes begin to glow crimson-red as certain sections of his body begin to crack into pieces, and from those formed orifices large, black mass leaks in a snake-like tentacle that slowly resembles to large arms, counting at the time about seven black arms that are still visible with the remaining light from the setting sun.

"Oh God," speaks Izhume, looking at all this, "what is going on here?"

* * * * * * * * * *

"The Dark Matter has gone critical!" A voice speaks who sees it all from a monitor from far away. "The specimen is going out of our control!"

"In probable thirty minutes the matter will grow unstable and will create a 10 mile-radius explosion!"

"Good," the leading voice replies, "fewer witnesses."

"But sir..."

"Like I said before, nothing must remain to track us down, and I don't want any of this to leave the confinements of this lake."

"That...might be hard, sir." Speaks a third voice, looking at another monitor, "take a look at this."

He proceeded then to bring up the volume and shows the monitor to him, revealing from it a broadcast that is being made from the lake by a news channel, not clear though from which station or company it was doing this work, "We just have no idea what's going on here," the female voice speaks from the monitor, "but I'm sure now that this is not a normal Digimon, nor is probably one, as you can see..."

"Track down that camera signal immediately and send the specimen to destroy it!!"

"We can't! It has grown out of our restraints!!"

* * * * * * * * * *

"Now that's something you don't see everyday." Expresses Yoshi, trying to sound calmed but nervous on the inside.

"M...Mi-Mi-Mi-Mia." Datamon tries to speak, lots of sparks and spasms coming from him, "I-I-I-I Ca-ca-ca-can't moo-o-o-o-ve-ve-ve."

"Oh no, you're short circuiting."

"I'll handle this!" They hear Kiru's voice as Justimon flies above the sky and prepares to launch his attacks.

But without any time to react, one of the dark masses that took moments ago the shade of an arm reshaped into a whip with thorns on its surface and hit Justimon. Upon impact Justimon glow red and immediately he de-merged and both Kiru and Ryu begun to plummet down. Thankfully, MachGaogamon was capable of flying to them in time to catch them in the air and safely set them down unconscious with his Captain and the others.

"Yoshi! We broke the sphere's defense systems!" Mia says quickly, snapping out of the impression the Pleciomon's transformation left her, "we can now hit it with Digimon attacks."

"MachGaogamon, destroy it!" The Saver Tozuma ordered.

"Yes, Captain!" MachGaogamon stands his ground and prepares to unleashed his long-range attack.

"HOWLING CANN...

But another of those black masses shoots out from that long distance and strikes him in just a second, flashing him red as well and crushing him with the ground, revealing just a Gaomon when it retracted back to the deformed Pleciomon.

"Gaomon!" The Saver rushes back to him, trying to see him conscious.

"CARDSLASH! D-PROTECTOR!!" Yoshi quickly acted, trying to see Aqua before it was too late, finally finding her coming out of the water a few feet away, "Aqua! The sphere is vulnerable now! Destroy it, quick!"

But as Aqua turns around to face the target, one more black arm flies down and grabs her, although she does not de-evolve by the contact while she struggles to escape as the arm lifts her off the water.

"What's this?" Asks Tozuma, "Why isn't your Aquarivamon de-evolving?"

"My 'D-Protector' Digicard created a field around her body to protect her from harm, but is just momentary, we have to destroy that thing before this gets worse."

"But how? Our Digimon are weak, that Digimon is too high in the air and we don't have anything left." The Saver speaks.

"Then we need to improvise."

"INCOMING!" Screams Mia as another black arm comes their way, seeming to be aiming at Yoshi.

Yoshi, having his reflexes well sharpen by now, is able to dodge the arm by jumping to the side, but his intention is not to stay away from it. When the arm is about to retract, he manages to grab onto the back of its hand and goes up the sky along with it, apparently going towards the hand that holds Aqua.

"Savers!" Tozuma communicates through his Digivice, looking towards the direction Yoshi is being taken, "Is any of our Digimon capable of keep fighting?"

"I'm sorry, Captain" He receives a reply, "they all are either too exhausted or unconscious!"

"Damn it!"

"He's so brave." Mia thinks as she sees Yoshi holding onto the black arm, feeling more admiration towards him than before.

"He's so moronic." The Saver think as he sees the same scene, feeling more irritated by him than before.

"Aqua! I'm coming for ya!" Yoshi exclaims as the arm retracts faster and is able, in a short time to think, to jump from it and be able to follow the path by inertia and hang onto the arm that holds Aqua prisoner.

Able to momentarily stand on his feet, he grabs the Platinum Blade he gave her during the attack and takes it away, using it then to stab the arm and made it release Aquarivamon. She quickly held Yoshi's hand and gets close to him.

"Aqua! You go and destroy the sphere, I'll keep him distracted!"

"But, Yoshi...

"I'll be fine, just go!" He reassures her as he slashes another arm that tried at that moment to grab them both.

She finds it hard to do it, but soon she finds herself hopping into the void and charging towards the sphere to end all of this, trying her best to trusts Yoshi's words, concentration to put everything she has into the next attack

"TIDAL KNUCKLE!!" She strikes the sphere with all of the might left in her heart, creating a large explosion around her as she penetrates the target and falling to the other side, diving into the water to avoid getting hit by the debris as she swims away to shore, wanting to see if Yoshi is still okay.

"Is it over?" Asks Tozuma, sounding desperate somewhat, looking as the sphere falls into the lake in pieces.

"The Dark Sphere is silent!"

"What?! How's this possible?"

"They must have found out how to bring down the field and attacked it with a Digimon."

"This is starting to sound, too coincidental."

"Sir?"

"Yoshi being here in time when we released the specimen. Them capable of locating the sphere without problem, able to disarm and destroy it...Gentlemen, I suspect sabotage here...No matter yet, the specimen will remain functional with or without the sphere."

"What do we do now, Sir?"

"Cancel the experiment. Once the specimen is neutralized it will leave no trail behind, but the signal we're sending to the sphere will be traceable, let us leave, for now. And I want a full report of who has been getting access to our databases in the last week, maybe we can find who messed this up."

* * * * * * * * * *

"You're still here, I see!" Yoshi keeps fighting Pleciomon with the Platinum Sword as he attempts to stay out of the range of its arms, but soon finds himself grabbed by one of them and bringing him closer to its head. "Man, you're the ugliest Plecio I've ever seen!" He expresses as he takes the sword and plunges it into one of Pleciomon's eyes, forcing to toss him away, approaching the surface of the ground near the fortune wheel at a rather dangerous speed.

"YOSHI!!" Aqua immediately dashes towards such spot in hope of catching him before the worst happens. Her body, thanks to the Digicards her Tamer has loaded into her, feels much more lighter, and she is capable of traveling a much more farther distance than she believed or thought she could go as she, nearing the point of impact, made a strong jump to catch Yoshi in the air.

But as she comes nearing Yoshi's path, she sees something. At first she believes it was a shiny reflection of the moonlight on the surface of something close by, but when she hers then the word 'Gotcha!', she thinks it isn't imagination, but someone else catching Yoshi as he falls. But this someone couldn't stop Yoshi completely, as Yoshi and the other still go in the same direction as Aqua reaches the interception point. She isn't capable of stopping Yoshi either, but at least she has slowed him down as the three of them keep flying to the side of the fortune wheel to then finish up crashing into various wooden tables, a trash can, and are finally stopped the pushy-toys and dolls within the tent where prizes for the surrounding game-spots were stored.

Aqua slowly begins to regain consciousness, opening her eyes as she feels the pain on her back by the constant crashes, finding herself surrounded by toys and plushies as she tries to move out to look for her Tamer. But she needn't look far, Yoshi is laying right on her, his head resting on her chest armor as he himself regains consciousness and holds his own head.

"Yoshi, are you all right?" She asks, caressing his head, looking for any sort of wound.

"I, think I'm fine." He responds, trying to move as little as possible to check his body, "I don't seem to have anything broken. Well done on destroying the sphere by the way, Aqua."

"But, that Digimon is still alive."

"I know, but without the sphere it wont come back to life. This time, we will delete it completely."

Yoshi tries to stay calm. He has been in many tight-spots, fighting against Digimon that there was no way of beating...until he tried harder. But in a case like this, he couldn't help to hesitate, this was not an ordinary Digimon, maybe not even one. Even with the Digicards he has loaded onto Aqua hasn't worked at all to bring it down, trying to find a solution between such thoughts and the mild headache he received upon impact.

Aqua could sense his worry.

"This is no time to doubt, right?" She asks him, smiling with a question that tries to brake the ice he seems to be stuck in. Receiving in response a smile and a silent laugh from him

"You learn fast." He replies, trying now to get up and get his Digivice that is a few inches away from his left and continue the battle.

But as he tries to move, a third, female move is heard:

"Ohhhowww my arm."

As Yoshi wonders about this, something begins to surface from all the material Aqua and Yoshi are buried on, appearing in front of Yoshi, almost as it was laying down on him, revealing its appearance and presence to both of them.

Yoshi couldn't see her full features since she was practically too close and in front of him. All Yoshi could see at that moment was a silver mask, perfectly shaped to the form of her head with three opening; one at the center of the forehead that reveals a yellow crescent moon below a strange form of white fur or feather with a bluish purple tip that is curled in the shape of a crescent moon as well, the other two let him see her wide, pink purple eyes that gaze him back, staying still as it appears she either tries to see something in his eyes, or simply admiring them.

"And, you are..?" Yoshi asks, but trying not to sound on the offensive.

The creature found her way back to reality and snapped out of it to jump out of the pile and away from them, standing near the hole from which they entered, exposing the rest of her form with the filtering moonlight through the clouds as she appears to examine him and Aqua.

She appears to be a hybrid-rabbit. Her heels are in the air and standing on the frontal part of her feet, both with a black strap that has a sleeping moon symbol on top and before meeting her long, blue toe-nails. Her thighs are wide seamlessly joining the shape of her pelvic-section, the white fur that surfaced her the most on this points has as well three crescent moons over them; one facing downwards in front of each of her legs, the other facing upwards on her waist a bit before meeting with the blue armor that goes from her abdomen to her neck and part of her arms protecting her. It doesn't appeared like an armor but more like a spandex under armor someone like Aquarivamon would have under the protective armor (he found out about it already), adorned with the silver and light black of a metallic pendant of the size of a fist with the same sleeping moon symbol. Her arms appears awful thin in comparison with her forearms and hands which are much muscular, with her hands covered with black, fingerless-gloes with a crescent moon on them once again. From her back, he isn't sure what exactly were they, but six-blue curving sticks are mounted on her back; four of them divided by two are curved forwards to be almost in front of her body, the other two facing in the opposite direction behind her. Her face, as described before, was mostly hidden by a silver mask, though only the frontal portion of it since she has a lot of things going on. Standing above her head are the figures of long, white furred horns with the ending half of blue that he believes them to be her ears, and if they are, what were the other six? Since another, smaller pair after them are present as well a pair on both sides of her head with a yellow stripe along them. All of this with the finishing touch of a long, silky pink scarf tied to the back of her mask that shines bright with the coming moonlight.

"I'm...Lekismon." She responds in time, "and...I've been sent to aid you."

"Who sent you?" Yoshi asks.

"The same one who sent you the goggles."

Yoshi looks then at the gray goggles that are still hanging from his neck, his thoughts of who was behind all this returning.

"Within the Digimon there's a corrupted Digicore." She speaks as she looks outside, "we must destroy it if we want to delete it permanently. Your reputation has proven true, Mr. Hayatse, so there's still hope."

Lekismon makes a light hop that sends her outside of the tent, looking back at them.

"Please Mr. Hayatse, time is very short. We must delete it now."

And with it, Lekismon makes another hop that completely sends her beyond their sight, Yoshi thinking she's going into the battlefield.

"But, can we trust her, Yoshi?" Asks Aqua, letting Yoshi get up.

"Not all sure," he responds as he picks up his Digivice and two Digicards next to it, "but right now we don't have many options. So we're gonna have to try to...

"Ex...cuse me..." They suddenly hear another smuggled voice, coming from behind them, "but...could you...though I kinda like it...remove your...'presence' off me...please?"

Aqua could feel then something moving behind her, specifically around her rear end. Feeling such thing makes her move away immediately, revealing a Hawkmon to have been buried beneath the debris that was behind Aqua, almost out of air and nearly in a knock-out.

"A Hawkmon?" Wonders Yoshi, "What is a Hawkmon doing around...

Then, looking closer at something shining around the Digimon's neck, he finds who this is.

"A News Press Pass?...Oh no...Not her again."

"You know this Digimon, Yoshi?"

"No, but I know his Tamer, and it's real trouble. We better move out and finish this fast...

* * * * * * * * * *

"Wow, that was a close one, chief?" Says Kudo, getting up from the ground as he checks if his camera is okay.

"I can't believe he tossed Yoshi like that." Izhume comments, "I had nearly no chance of reacting. Well, thankfully we weren't right on his path, right, Kaiser?...Kaiser?"

As she looks in the space between Kudo and herself, she finds her Digimon is no longer with them, as so is gone the cloak that once has rendered them invisible, which means the Digimon isn't close to them.

"Oh no," speaks Kudo, "my camera short-circuited. Oh well, good thing I burned everything up into a separate CD I have with me."

"Kaiser! Kaiser, where are you?"

"Over here!" She hears another voice come from behind, specifically the direction Yoshi went flying. Finding in such direction Yoshi and her Aquarivamon coming back, with Kaiser on her arms.

"Hisorrynotimehere'sahealingcardbye!" Yoshi passes swiftly by her while Aqua gives Kaiser to her along with the mentioned card without stopping, rushing forth to the spot where Mia and The Saver were.

"...What was that all about?" Asks Kudo, trying to solve what Yoshi said in such a speedy way.

"Not sure, but this is getting out of hand." Izhume responds as she loads the Digicard into her Digivice, healing Kaiser of his wounds. "I must start fighting as well. You stay here Kudo, I'll be back. Ready, Kaiser?"

"I'm...okay." The Digimon responds, still in a dizz, "I landed...on soft material."

"Snap out of it, will ya! We have a duty to perform here!

"CARDSLASH! AERO WING!!" Yoshi swipes another Digicard that creates a pair of red and blue dragon-wings (Much like AeroVeedramon's) on the back of Aquarivamon. With this card, Aqua is now capable to fly as she uses them to go above Yoshi and fly towards the Pleciomon still in the sky, seeing how Lekismon is confronting it.

This Digimon didn't have the ability to fly, but she has enough power on her legs to jump at incredible heights, at times where she is above the target, doing everything she can to dodge his attacks when she comes to the point where her body begins to drop.

"TEAR ARROW!!" She hears Lekismon say as the stickups on her back bend forth as small, white light spheres form at the tip of each, shooting afterwards hundreds of small arrows made of ice towards Pleciomon that, indeed, looked like tears. Soon after they hit, the space on the Pleciomon's chest cracks open, revealing a large, red sphere composed of rings of data circling constantly around themselves, creating a strange howling sound as they appear to move faster and faster.

"MOON NIGHT KICK!!" Lekismon impulses herself at incredible speed from one of the arms that tries to capture her, unleashing a powerful kick upon such red sphere in Pleciomon. This strike at such spot made Pleciomon flinch, left almost stunned and open for another attack as Lekismon lands on one of its immobile arms.

"AQUA DISPERSE!!" Aqua shoots her blue energy beam to the same spot, paralyzing him even more.

"Mind if I join in?!" She hears a voice coming in fast, realizing it's almost the same voice she heard back at the tent. Looking at the source, she finds an Aquilamon flying in fast.

"BLAST RINGS!!" He fires from his mouth a ray formed by rings of fire that strike Pleciomon a third time, he appeared to be in a total static.

"One more!" Aqua hears yet another voice coming from the distance, but before she has the came to turn around and see who it is, he already passed in front of her and begins running along the many arms the Pleciomon has developed. At a moment's glance, she can tell the Digimon is a Strikedramon.

"Ryu?" She says to herself, knowing this form to be one of the many in Ryu's Evolution line.

"STRIKE FANG!!" His body is engulfed in flames as with a final charge he tackles the sphere.

At that moment, a cracking sound is heard.

There is a small, growing crack now on the side of the sphere, whose many rings of data just begin to rotate uncontrollably as Pleciomon finally begins moving, this time sounding in pain. Those on the arms sound begin to jump around them to evade their attacks.

"We're almost there!" Lekismon exclaims as she tries to close in for another strike.

But the arms has begun to move faster, even to the point where other arms start to sprout from them, making that much harder for them to evade. Eventually, all four of them are captured by those black arms, sustaining them in the air and slowly wearing them down with the same shocks it used before, this time very weak due to the damage given to its Digicore.

"Are you all right, Kiru?" Asks Yoshi back on dry land, "that attack you received before was very strong."

"Is okay, Ryu and I shared it so it wasn't so bad...I ran out of Digicards. And you?"

"Only four left. And right now I have the perfect opening for one of them."

Yoshi looks up at the sky, seeing how Aqua is now held by one of those arms and is very close to the Digicore. It is then that he decides to load the next card.

"CARDSLASH! SEADRA CANNON!!"

With the great glowing light coming out of his Digivice, Aqua's arms join together as they both unite in a golden light growing larger to then take the form of a MetalSeadramon's head. Once the light vanishes, her arms are now wielding a large golden cannon, which it has indeed the shape of a MetalSeadramon's head, aiming it then at the Digicore that is now directly in front of her.

"Now Aqua! Fire!"

"RIVER OF POWER!!" She pulls the trigger of the weapon as many small lines and bubbles of blue energy gather within its barrel, unleashing then such a powerful beam of energy Aqua feels her arms quiver trying to keep the cannon steady, the ray growing in time to engulf Pleciomon in its path that reaches into the farthest of the sky as the beam of energy begins to lose its punch and slowly thins down until it no longer existed.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Pleciomon.

He is still standing, floating in front of Aquarivamon, its body is completely scorched by the blast, its surface is now revealed to be composed entirely of that same black matter, but it's still alive. As for the Digicore, somehow the black mass that conformed some of the arms that were free united and formed a shield in front of it, reshaping and separating back into arms as Aqua's weapon vanishes in many small pieces.

"No!" Yoshi realizes, "That thing saw it coming!"

"We don't have anything left." Says The Saver Tozuma, "We cannot fight it like this."

"If we don't there's no telling what will happen." Mia replies to him, helping Datamon lay down after the effects of the previous shockwave caused, "we cannot give up now."

"We don't have enough power individually right now," continues Ryu, "but if we keep attacking it together, we still have a chance of victory. We need to put our hearts and DigiSoul into it."

"IT'S FUTILE!!" Protests the Saver.

"INCOMING!!" A female voice is heard in the distance, Yoshi not able to get a good look at its face but sees well the hand pointing towards the sky.

He barely has time to react as he jumps aside before a speeding black arms misses him by inches, but as Yoshi is about to make the next move another arm sprouts from the move that tried to catch him and succeeds, keeping him against the side of a tree.

"Yoshi!" Kiru tries to get up and reach him, but another arm sprouts from the larger one and pins him to the ground.

"Data, look out!" Mia tries to protect her Digimon as another black arm sprouts towards them, grabbing and pinning her down on the ground instead of Data.

"Let them go, you piece of trash!" The voice that warned Yoshi before is heard again as a figure appears with a large branch and hits the main arm, only to have another limb sprout and throws her against the same tree Yoshi is at, keeping her right next to him.

"Izhume?" Wonders Yoshi, now able to have a close look at her, "Why am I not surprised of finding you here?"

"What? Am I suppose to just sit and not have any of the action?" She replies, sounding insulted in a real fake way, "And get an exclusive while I'm at it?"

"Of course."

Over this time they could all see that many other limbs begins to emerge from the black body of Pleciomon, shooting all of them towards a different part of the lake. As they disappear between the trees, they can hear screaming.

"Oh no." Speaks Yoshi, "That's where the Savers are!"

"Captain!" The Saver Tozuma hears through the communicator on his left ear, "The target...Digimon pinned...we're...(static)."

"Oh no." Tozuma thinks, feeling many a shivers crawl down his spine.

"We have to do something!" Yoshi speaks, "Izhume, help me push this thing off us!"

"I can't! My hands just sink into it!"

"ROLLING UPPER!!" Suddenly Gaomon appears in the scene, giving an uppercut to the arm that only serves to weaken it and allow Izhume some room to move and try to brake free, but not enough to escape.

"Gaomon! What are you doing?!" Asks his partner, confused.

"DOUBLE BACKHAND!!" He spins at high speed like a whirlwind that creates such suction power the limbs holding everyone is attracted to it and hit my Gaomon's attack.

"GAO RUSH!!" He switched his attack into a barrage of punches towards all of the gathered arms with all of his might, a few of them disintegrating into data pieces.

Even though he's trying the arms he destroyed are replaced by larger hands that keeps them still in place as a few more appear and try to capture him as well.

"Gaomon! Stop this, now!" His partner exclaims.

"We cannot, Captain!" This Digimon contradicted, "I've seen unstable Digicores before, if we don't stop it now, this lake will turn into a ten-mile crater!"

"We don't have the power to destroy it!"

"Neither did that AquaVmon!"

Gaomon keeps dodging those arms, trying to keep a look at Aquarivamon and the other Digimon captured by the Pleciomon above in the air.

"I thought as well she wouldn't handle it, the presence I sensed from her as a Rookie was far below what I normally expect from a Digimon tamed by Yoshi, but as she fought in her Champion form I was proven wrong. She has a strength I could not anticipate. I still sensed she wasn't strong enough to destroy that Digimon by herself, but with the strength of all these others they have been able to damage him, to the point where it's vulnerable and nearly beaten it. If a group of weak Digimon has the strength to hurt that thing then so can I!"

"...Gaomon." Yoshi speaks in a whisper, feeling some sense of justice and desperation coming from him.

Another arm launches itself towards him, dodging it with ease as he jumps and lands over it.

"I can't stand aside while others are in danger!" Gaomon rushes over the arm with all he's got, dodging other arms that rocket towards him as he sprints up it.

"Go, Gaomon!!" Yoshi cheers, sharing the "You can do it! Don't give up!"

"Wow, hey. What are you doing with your hand?!" Izhume asks in surprise and nervousness as she feels something crawling on her side.

"I'm trying to reach my Digivice, I got an idea. Can you reach those two Digicards on the ground?"

"I'll try, but you better give me an exclusive of a lifetime for this."

"Guys, look!" Aqua speaks as she tries to move to see her direction, the others do this as well. This way they can all see how the Saver's Gaomon is doing his speed run over the arm as he evades all things that comes his way, trying his best to reach within striking distance of his fists, "quick! we have to aid him!"

"BLAST RINGS!!" Aquilamon immediately fires his attack against a large arm that was about to strike Gaomon from the side, disintegrating it completely.

"TEAR ARROW!!" Lekismon fires her icicle arrows to destroy another limb going towards Gaomon and destroys it.

"AQUA DISPERSE!!" Aquarivamon fires her attack as well to another limb, letting Gaomon a clear path to the Digicore.

Other arms begins to emerge from the arm he is running from, but they cannot keep up with his speed. There was too much going on around him, having pinned down every Saver in the area along with a few more and all Digimon around him there appears to be nearly all it could take as the arms sprouting on the one Gaomon goes on cannot reach him in time as he bypasses them almost without problem. He can see clearly now the cracks and the damage the others have caused on him, giving that much purpose to his task of delivering the final blow.

The target is now within range.

"GAO RUSH!!" He throws now his rain of rapid punches towards the Digicore, hoping this to be the end of the battle.

But it's far from it.

Before any of his punches could reach the core, the same wall of black mass that protected it before shields it, blocking all of the punches that approaches it and shoots a hand that captures Gaomon and sends him towards the Tamers and Saver.

"No!!" Yoshi yells, "Close! SO CLOSE!!"

"Yoshi, I got the Digicards!" Izhume responds, "now what?!"

"My other hand is stuck to my back. I'll hold the Digivice in place, you swipe the cards through it!"

As they both try to work together, Gaomon as been made met with the dirt violently by the black hand just inches from Izhume and Yoshi, incapable of moving and almost unconscious. Yoshi couldn't help to see the condition in which he's been, looking then at the Saver, immobile, just standing there looking at his partner in disbelief as Izhume successfully swiped and load the first Digicard.

"Tozuma!" He yells at him, "Don't just stand there! Give your partner your DigiSoul!"

"What? You know him?" Izhume asks as she finishes loading the next card, to which Yoshi doesn't bother to respond.

"Huh? What's this?" Aqua asks as a small glow that rested around her neck disappears and reveals a pendant of blue that has a large medallion with a sleeping moon symbol on it, much of the likes Lekismon bears on her.

* * * * * * * * * *

"I.." The Saver cannot move, on the inside, his body is frozen by fear as he looks up in the sky and sees those large-red eyes that glows so threatening.

"C...Captain..." He looks down and sees Gaomon, his D-iC Digivice right beside him because it fell off him from the previous attack; his Digimon extending his arm to him, wanting to reach him, "hel...help me..."

"The Digivice, Tozuma! Get the Digivice!!"

"Cap..tain...help..."

The Saver wanted to move, he wanted to do something, he could not bear seeing his partner in this pain, this suffering. But he couldn't do something, he couldn't take those few steps and take the Digivice, he couldn't come closer and try to reach Gaomon's hand to comfort and aid him get out of the predicament. This monster has shown to be far more powerful than the ability of a Tamer or a Saver to handle, nothing that might be now could be enough to bring that threat down, or ever.

But if there's something that Tozuma could definitely do...is this.

"What?!" Izhume reacts in dismay, both angry and hateful, "what are you doing?!! COME BACK YOU FUCKING COWARD!!!"

But it was futile, it didn't take more than five seconds for him to simply disappear with the curtain of the night as they can only hear afterwards the sounds of him breaking the branches on the trees, crashing with a trashcan and stepping on puddles of water as he runs away from there, leaving all of them behind to their fortune.

"Cap...cap..tain?" Gaomon couldn't speak well anymore. All his could see before his partner disappeared was the back of his uniform, vanishing with the darkness, wanting him still to help him, but he wouldn't come back for him.

He feels the strength he gained with the momentum leaving him with his hopes, losing his consciousness as the black arm drags him through the dirt of him.

He could feel how tears try to leak themselves out of his eyes.

"NOOO!!" Yoshi screams as he then lets his D-Arc Digivice drop so he can claw his hand onto the black arm that holds him and Izhume against the tree. To Izhume's surprise, where her hands simply sank when she tried to push it away from her, Yoshi could hold on to it and is capable of pushing it back. With enough room he could bring his other hand to the front and keep pushing into there is enough room for them to escape.

"Izhume!" He speaks, his arms trembling with the strength they're using to perform this act, "The D-iC!! Take it...and give it to me!!"

"But it's not your Digivice." She protests, "and a Saver Digimon can only receive the DigiSoul of his assigned partner."

"The DigiSoul...IS UNIVERSAL!!!"

Izhume couldn't understand these words, but as far as she was concerned, any sort of idea at this point is nice, it certainly beats the one of retreating and leaving other people behind. So as soon as she could she slides under the arm and makes her escape from it, just in time as Yoshi's strength soon gives up and the hand slams him hard against the tree. He's in a world of pain, but at least now both his hands are free.

Gaomon doesn't know what is happening, and slowly, be began to lose care of it. His partner was gone, he deserted him, the Savers, the innocents still near the lake, everything is lost, all of his strength bleeding onto the dirt along with his desire to keep fighting.

"GAOMON!!" He hears a dim voice that leaks into his consciousness, able for a second to see a light coming from close by.

He sees then Yoshi, holding in hand his partner's D-iC.

"DON'T GIVE UP JUST YET!!"

"Wh..Why?"

Yoshi begins then to concentrate, deploying once's DigiSoul is no easy job unless you've done it often, beginning to feel his strengths going to the farthest corners of his own heart to find the necessary to invoke such needed power.

With this, his DigiSoul, his aura made of thousands of small particles of data in a pure white glow that rises to the sky before it concentrates back into his body to create a bright white outlining around him as the subsequent display of energy changed the D-iC entirely.

"DIGISOUL, CHARGE!! OVERDRIVE!!!"

Gaomon couldn't believe it, a person who wasn't his partner not only charged his DigiSoul into the D-iC and gave it to him, but and made the Digivice evolve to its Burst Model. He couldn't understand it, why a person not personally known to him could do such thing.

"The DigiSoul is universal." The line repeats itself in his head like an echo, as his consciousness momentary is loss, and his mind begins to flow towards his wishes, his desires, his deepest memories.

He remembers a long time ago, as the sun of the day faded away, sat on a chair in one of the many room at a hospital within the grounds of DATS (Digimon Accident Tactic Squad) HQ. The lighting in such place was the orange sunlight coming from wide windows behind the bed, enlighten fully and perfectly.

Gaomon just sat there, waiting, hoping to hear something other than the people walking and talking about outside the room or the tick and tocks of the clock. But of all things he could do, he did not dare look at the bed, he didn't have the courage, or the hope to look at the person laying on that hospital bed.

"I..." Speaks Gaomon in his own mind, looking at this scene in an ethereal plane, "I remember this place...

"What's...on your mind...Gao?" He heard a voice coming from that furniture, taking him in such surprise that he was about to react with happiness, but remembered there wasn't really a reason, he didn't have the right to do something like that.

"I'm...sorry, Master." His past-self replied, still facing down to the ground, sadness could be sensed in his voice.

"For what?"

"I failed you...I hesitated, when you needed me most. That moment, I lost my courage...and I failed to protect you."

"It happens...to all of us, Gao...don't be so hard on yourself. None of us could...have anticipated this kind of incident...We did what we could, you did what you could."

"But still..." He tried to control himself, he was after all not allowed to raise his voice without his partner's permission, "I should have done something, I should've been prepared for everything...it was my sole duty to protect you with my life...and I...I asked for resignation from the Digimon CO...but he said not unless you...

"Gao...Please, come closer."

He obliged, he came down of his chair and pushed it closer to the bed, standing this time over the chair so his head was at least over the bed, waiting for his next command, but his emotions were still down.

He wanted to say so many things still, but like any Digimon that worked for DATS, he was thought to keep his emotions suppressed to focus the best on his tasks, the freedom of emotion and expression in this sense was rarely permitted and under many conditions. But he could feel the knot forming on his throat, the things he wanted to shout were stuck on his throat, but he was not allowed to let them out.

And somehow, he never knew how, but his partner always felt the moment where Gaomon started to feel such pain.

"Gao," he spoke softly, using his right hand almost all covered in bandages to pat his head, still looking away from him, "I give you...permission to cry."

When he said those words, he finally won Gaomon's sight as he looked back at him almost immediately, his eyes easily unable to contain themselves anymore as a few tears flow down them. And the next thing he knew, he threw his hands and head onto the bed, able this way to feel his partner's side under the sheets, letting his sobs and cries wear themselves out along his tears as his master kept caressing his head slowly, allowing his partner to relieve all of his pain for the time he has allowed him to do so.

"Master..." The viewing Gaomon says, "you always gave me permission, when I needed it most...even if it meant suspension for you."

"Gao, you're a great partner." He spoke to him, "thou you don't show it, you still feel insecure inside, because you feel an overwhelming weight...resting on your shoulders...Having to protect all those who are in need, those who cannot defend themselves...you are noble and passionate, Gao...but that made you sometimes doubt whether you were strong at all...but I must remind you, Gao...that you don't need, to carry all that weight by yourself...because I'm here with you."

"But I can't digivolve to Mega," the crying Gaomon responded, "if I could do that, I would'd been able to protect you."

"Evolution has nothing...to do with it, Gao. We've always managed with what we have...but one day, you will be able to reach that level."

"But, our DigiSoul are not compatible."

"That never stopped the first...Digidestineds, a century ago...from reaching beyond Mega...What matters is...not the strength of the...Human or the Digimon alone...but what we can...do together."

Gaomon looked up, wiping the tears from his eyes, having listened closely to his master's words.

"As long as we both work together...there will be nothing to fear. All right?"

"Master..."

"...Yes...Master." He replied, never noticing he let a smile slip pass his lips. Under a normal situation he would be reprimanded by his superior, but he knew well that; in a private moment such as this, his partner would always let it pass. Even fancying himself the natural reaction of wagging his tail as his partner kept caressing his head.

"The DigiSoul...is universal, after all...

"Yes, Master...I understand..."

* * * * * * * * * *

"GAOMON WARP-DIGIVOLVE TO...MIRAGEGAOGAMON!!!" He snaps out into reality as the energy of Yoshi's DigiSoul rushes within his body, charging him with a power he hasn't felt before as his body turns a blue transparent and the arm that dragged him is destroyed by the reflecting moonlight.

"What?!" Izhume is surprised of the results, snapping photos from her normal-negative photo camera since her digital one was out of battery, "Yoshi...helped a Digimon digivolve that isn't his? Incredible!!"

* * * * * * * * * *

"I...can't, handle this...any longer." Protests Kaiser as he grows weaker by the minute, still trying to brake free from Pleciomon's grasp.

"Wait." Lekismon speaks, the yellow crescent moons of her body glowing strong, "I...I feel something, my strength...is coming back."

"I...feel it too." Aqua speaks, not well aware of the motive of this as the jewels on her gauntlets begin to glow strongly.

"DOUBLE CRESCENT MIRAGE!!" a group of crescent-like shockwaves fly towards them and cuts the arms that once holded them prisoner. Kaiser and Aqua catching Ryu and Lekismon before hitting the water, flying away as they suddenly stumble upon the presence of the Digimon that has freed them.

He stands many feet tall, much larger than what Aqua has ever seen, a blue colossus of digizoid armor whose surface is enlighten with the shine of the moon over him. His forearms sporting large gauntlets with a golden shield of arms on the top as three dark gray blades with golden patterns on their sides. But unlike many other gauntlets with claws, his hands were visible underneath, free to do as they will. His chest armor shaped in the form of a wolf's head in white and blue, even having the lines of the mouth and three golden lines crossing it to resemble the fangs and glowing red-eyes on the top sides close to his shoulders. His helmet completely covered his head, sharing the shape of a wolf with pointy ears straight up and his yellow eyes visible from its openings as the large, red cape behind him glows in contrasts with his body while that same blue strap representing his tail she saw on MachGaogamon attached now to the top of his back but still below his red cape.

"Gaomon?" She thinks out loud, sensing that same presence within him.

"Now, " He speaks, holding his left hand to point at his shoulder, "lets finish this, right and fast."

"Right." She agrees, knowing now who he is, as she sets Lekismon on his right shoulder while Kaiser, though confused, sets Ryu down on his left shoulder.

"Are you sure you can still fight?" Asks Mirage to Aqua, without looking away from Pleciomon who didn't seem to move at all.

"Yes, my power begun to come back greater than ever a second ago."

"So did mine," Includes Lekismon, "but I don't understand how it happened."

"It was Yoshi." Responds Aqua, joining her gauntlets together to gather energy, "he helped us, I can feel it, his presence so close to me even when he's not."

"I see." Mirage says, thinking as well in his mind, "her bond with him must be stronger than I anticipated."

* * * * * * * * * *

"Say, Yoshi." Asks Izhume, holding still the camera at the Digimon, Yoshi still in place by the black arm, "What Digicards did you asked me to swipe?"

"First it was 'Moon Pendant', then 'Full Moon'." He replies, "Gaomon and Lekismon receive their strength from moonlight, so I used 'Full Moon' to maximize the light, and since the real moon is present, their strength is growing far stronger than normal. While Aqua cannot receive those benefits naturally, I used 'Moon Pendant' to grant her the capacity to receive that strength as well."

"Wow, thinking ahead as always. Bringing such cards in case of emergency and all...

"Eh, actually, I found those two Digicards laying on the floor."

"WHAT?!"

"Yeah, I found them laying on the ground when I crashed in the tent, I was down to one card I can't use right now. Guess I was lucky this time, hehehe."

"He's...so strange at times."

"Wow! Hey!" Yoshi reacts as the arm suddenly begins to move around him, tighten his grip around and lifts him with all and the tree to the heights of the other Digimon.

"Yoshi!" Mia screams, looking how high the arm is lifting him.

* * * * * * * * * *

"FULL MOON BLASTER!!" MirageGaogamon opens the mouth on his chest and shoots a yellow energy beam.

"TEAR ARROW!!" Lekismon follows it.

"FIRE RINGS!!" Kaiser, the Aquilamon fires.

"STRIKE CLAW!!" Ryu centers all his energy onto his right hand and fires it as a single large fireball.

"AQUA DISPERSE!!" Aqua fires her blue energy beam. Amazed at how all of their attacks at a point fused together into a single, massive beam of blue, red and yellow energy that engulfed Pleciomon completely, creating a large aerial explosion.

But as they were about to prepare for a counter attack, they all saw how a black arm rises to the skies, with Yoshi on it.

"YOSHI!!" Aqua screams, scared of his safety.

But as soon as she screamed, the arm swiftly made a flick of its wrist and launches itself with Yoshi to the lake and hitting it, creating a large splash of water as they could all hear clearly the sound of it hitting the bottom.

Without second thoughts, Aqua plunges herself to the void and dives into the lake, trying to reach him. Meanwhile, as the smoke and mist of water clears, the other Digimon can see that Pleciomon's body is partially gone, but still alive. Also able to notice how the Digicore has gone from red to white and making a strange sound between howling and cracking.

"Oh no." Lekismon speaks, "He's about to explode! We have to destroy it now!!"

* * * * * * * * * *

"YOSHI! I'M COMING!!" Aqua screams underwater, trying to see through the dark depths of the lake her Tamer. "I can't see anything. I need light!"

As she thought those words, the jewels on her gauntlets glow of sky blue, creating the necessary light for her to see where she's going, not understanding nor caring how is this happening, all her mind could think was saving her partner.

Once she could tell where the black arm is, she follows it to the bottom of the lake, finding Yoshi at the very bottom between the arm and the tree. Swimming at the speed her kind was granted, Aqua got to his side, seeing him still conscious, holding his breath.

"Yoshi! Don't worry, I'll get you out of here!" She says as she uses her Tidal Knuckle attack to flow the arm away, grabbing Yoshi to begin swimming to the surface. But as she tries to stay way from the black arm as much as possible, another arm came from above and strikes Aqua as a smaller arm grabs Yoshi, the hit made her lose the grip but reacts just in time to hold Yoshi's arm who hold hers as well.

She struggles with all of her might, throwing a series of Tidal Knuckles and Aqua Disperses one-handed as a larger group of small arms tries to grab her or Yoshi in an attempt to separate them. Aqua Knowing she's running out of time before the worst happens. She keeps hammering away her attacks as she tries her best to keep a hold of his arm that slowly slips away.

"Leave me alone!" She yells, "I have to save Yoshi! Let me go!"

A group of bubbles floats in front of her going to the surface, knowing well their meaning. She directs her sight back at Yoshi, watching him struggling erratically as he has ran out of air in his lungs and water started to get in, looking into his eyes, seeing his desperation to survive. She couldn't stand it.

"No, Yoshi, please." She speaks, "please stay with me. Stay with me, Yoshi!"

But is not possible, even with her grip on him, his hand; motionless, slips pass her arm, letting the arm sink with him whose life begins to fade away, Aqua fighting more than ever to break free. Her entire being feels like is bursting with anger and desperation.

As she keeps fighting to save him, the jewels on her gauntlets shine brighter, illuminated almost every corner in the depths of the lake, not caring about anything else around her but her Tamer's life escaping from her.

"Let me go you worthless piece of shit!" She screams angrily, a blue aura starting to form around her, "I have to save Yoshi! Yoshi needs me!! LET ME GO, YOU BASTARD!!!"

* * * * * * * * * *

Meanwhile, above the surface of the lake, the night sky enlighten with moonlight is faded by the stronger lighting coming for the lake's bottom, creating such strong light that it could be seen from miles away.

"Wha-What is going on here?" Asks Kaiser, surprised and scared of the sudden burst of light, "is it going to explode now?"

"No, this is different." Lekismon speaks, "I...I don't know what's going on."

"Look out!" MirageGaogamon uses his red cape to protect the Digimon along with the Tamers at shore as a sudden explosion sound happens.

"What da hell is that?" Ryu asks, not able to see through the strong light.

Meanwhile down on the ground; Kiru, Mia, and Izhume take a few steps forth from Mirage's cape and see what the situation seems to have become. Izhume promptly taking camera in hand and taking photos of all within her sight.

And what is there to see, is beautiful.

As the light dims, they are all able to see that the waters of the lake...has split in two.
