In the cramped space of the Slifer Red dorms the duelist discussed what they had witnessed.

"I haven't seen a card like that since Illusion Gate. It didn't feel natural." Alexis stated.

"I know it was a shadow duel. But where does it's magic come from?" Jaden expanded. Syrus sighed as he thought back to the Shadow Riders and the society.

Syrus stepped out of the room and let out another sigh as he looked into the sky wondering what the future would bring him. He had hoped for a break after they defeated the Society of Light. But then he noticed something in the sky. With the sun behind it, he could only see the outline of it. Syrus squinted his eyes trying to make it out. He then realized it was heading straight for him! The boy turned and tried to run but it caught him. He let out a yelp of surprise expecting pain, but instead he got only a warm embrace.

"I remember you from my last trip trip, you're so cuute!" he heard a familiar voice exclaim. As he was released he spun around to see who it was.

"D-dark Magician Girl!" He shock of seeing her so suddenly caused him to lose his balance and fall backwards on his rear. He touched his face remembering her brief kiss from last time. The door burst open as the others, having heard Syrus's yelp, poured out.

"Syrus!?" Jaden called worried. But the group quickly became amused when they saw the real cause.

"It's that girl from before! Now that I think of it, today is-" Chazz started.

"Duel Monster Spirit Day!" Jaden and Alexis answered in unison.

"So maybe this is why all those duel spirits are appearing." Jaden speculated.

"No. It still doesn't add up. This many duel spirits didn't show up last time. And that grave freak's place didn't appear either." Chazz pointed out.

Dark Magician Girl looked on questionably as the others chatted. She then looked back to Syrus.

"Isn't that the guy I dueled against before?" She asked. Syrus lightly nodded in response.

"It was so much fun. Whatta you say we duel this time!?" She suggested.

"M-me and you?" Syrus mustered as she took hold of his arm to help him back to his feet. He could feel his cheeks blushing from the contact.

"It'll be so much fun." She said as she dragged the helpless Syrus away.

"I guess your right, that can't be all of it." Jaden agreed.

"Where's Syrus?" Alexis noticed.

"Donno, really wasn't watching." Chazz replied.

"Me neither." Jaden chuckled embarrassed.

"But I'm sure he's fine. We should see if Shepard knows anything about this." Jaden said optimistically. After a few introductions they got down to the matters at hand.

"Unfortunately, we don't know much about this current threat. Some duelist have been seen playing an unregistered spell card, which our duel disks strangely accept. This started right when the Duel Monster's Spirit Day celebration began." Shepard explained.

"Someone is harvesting Duel Spirits for something." Chazz noted. They left with little more knowledge then they entered with.

Outside, Syrus and Dark Magician Girl's duel was starting.

"Kay! Let's get this duel on!" Dark Magician Girl deployed her duel disk eagerly. Syrus nervously started his own duel disk. Both duelist drew five cards.

"Ladies first!" She called as she drew her sixth card.

"I'll just place a monster face-down. That's all!" She said cheerfully. Syrus silently drew a card.

"Um, I'll play a face-down monster too." Syrus said uncertainly.

Dark Magician Girl drew her next card smiling eagerly at seeing it.

"I play Black Magic Ritual! My sacrificing a Magician of Black Chaos from my hand I play a second Magician of Black Chaos!"

Dark clouds gathered overhead as the Magician of Black Chaos descended.

"Attack his face-down monster!" She ordered energetically. The magician spun his staff around before firing off a blast of red energy. Syrus's monster was revealed to be Cycroid before it was destroyed. Syrus shielded his face with his arms as the attack hit instinctively.

I can't let myself look like a loser. Syrus started his turn drawing a card. Not bad! Syrus face lit up at seeing that he had a useful combo in his hand.

"First, I summon Truckriod!" The toy like truck appeared onto the field.

"Aw! It's so cuuute!" Dark Magician Girl exclaimed. Syrus blushed.

"Ya think so?" Syrus said meekly twiddling his fingers.

"Don't let yourself get distracted private! Stay focused!" A voice called out from behind Syrus. He spun around to see Hassleberry and Blair watching him.

He turned back around sharply.

"People are watching?" He said under his breath. He looked back to the cards in his hand trying to forget the embarrassment.

"I play Riryoku. Your spellcaster loses half his points, and my Truckroid gains them." He explained as Magician of Black Chaos's ATK fell to 1400 and Truckroid's rose to 2400.

"Attack!" Syrus ordered. The truck ran down Magician of Black Chaos. Dark Magician Girl turned her head from the light of the battle as her Life Points decreased to 3000.

"Are you alright!?" Syrus asked worried. She looked happily back.

"Never better!" She exclaimed. Meanwhile Truckroids effect equipped it with Magician of Black Chaos keeping it's ATK at 2400 after Riryoku's effect ended.

"I'll put thus card face-down. Turn end." Syrus said as he placed a trap card onto the field.

Dark Magician Girl say that this was going to be a challenge. She had lost field presence now having only her face-down monster. But maybe if she got rid of the face-down card in his spell and trap zone she'd crush his strategy.

"I activate Mystical Space Typhoon! Blow away his face-down card!" She ordered as the alien wind came from the sky to blast his card.

"With my trap cards effect I summon Decoyroid." Syus summoned a tiny car onto the field.

"But didn't I just destroy that trap?" Dark Magician Girl pondered out loud.

"Yeah, but you see, Wonder Garage's effect activates when it's destroyed." Syrus explained sympathetic.

"Oh, that's funny. Anyways, I set two face-down cards! Turn end!" She said cheerful again.

Syrus drew. [i]She has two face-down cards in her spell and trap zone, but if I wait she might summon another powerful monster.[/i]

"I set a face-down card. Truckroid, attack her defense monster." Syrus instructed after setting a card into his spell and trap zone. The vehicle charged running down what was revealed to be a Magician's Valkyria.

"You've activated my trap card, Broken Blocker!" Dark Magician Girl interrupted happily.

"What's that!?" He asked.

"Since you destroyed a monster in defense position with more DEF then ATK, I get to special summon two more of them from my deck!" She explained as two more Magician's Valkyria appeared.

"You remember their effect from my last duel right?" She asked.

"That's bad right?" Blair inquired.

"Bad? Now Syrus can't attack anything! He's smack in the middle of a battlefield without any ammo!" Hassleberry remarked.

"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the stakes, loser got to give the winner a kiss!" Dark Magican Girl winked at Syrus.

"W-what!?" Syrus stumbled backwards at hearing her as he fantasized about it.

"Done with your turn?" she inquired.

"Yeah, anything you say." Syrus sighed blissfully.

"Now that was just cheap..." Hassleberry said dryly.

"I switch a Magician's Valkyria to attack position! Defeat Decoyriod!" She ordered as the spellcaster took flight and fired a magic blast from her staff destroying the miniature car.

"Don't let that me all!" Dark Magician Girl insisted as she pointed to her face-down card.

"I activate Magician's Circle! This lets me call a very special monster to the field, myself!" She said showing off her card before placing it on her duel disk and stepping onto the field.

"With a Magician of Black Chaos in the graveyard I gain 300 points." Dark Magician Girl explained as her ATK increased to 2300.

"I'll end my turn at that."

Syrus drew a card not knowing what to do. With her two Magician's Valkyrias on the field he couldn't attack. But he still did have the strongest monster for now.

"I'll pass."

"My move!" She drew excited.

"I activate Sage's Stone! With me on the field I can summon Mahad from my deck." A purple costumed magician appeared with 2500 ATK.

"Um, isn't he called Dark Magician?" Syrus couldn't help but ask.

"Oh! Right! Dark Magician, attack Truckriod! Dark Magic attack!" He took aim with his staff before blowing the truck off the field. Syrus had 3900 life points left.

"With Truckroid gone, my second Magician of Black Chaos goes to the graveyard, making me the strongest card on the field!" Dark Magician girl said proudly as her ATK increased to 2600.

"Ready or not, here I come!" Dark Magician Girl took flight as her staff gathered magic.

"Dark Burning Attack!" She tossed down a ball of dark magic. Syrus stared wide-eyed as she did until it impacted causing him to fall over backwards forgetting that it was a hologram. His life points dropped to 1300.

"This is it!" Dark Magician Girl said enthusiastically jumping up and down in excitement.

"Magician's Valkyria! Win me that kiss! Direct attack!" She ordered pointing to Syrus. Syrus yelped assessing his hand franticly. There was a way stop her attack!

"I discard Kiteroid to negate the attack!" He breathed revealed that he had lasted the run. Though he also felt a bit disappointed he didn't get to kiss her also.

"Aw, I thought I was going to win! Oh well. Next turn it is!"

Syrus drew. It was Jetroid! That was a monster to turn things around.

"I set a monster in defense position. I activate Double Summon to play a second monster in defense position!" He declared with new confidence.

"Kay! My turn. I switch my second Magician's Valkyria to attack position. Now I've got four monsters to attack with! My Magician's Valkyria, attack his face-down monster!" As the spellcaster readied her attack the monster was revealed to be Gyroid.

"Once per turn, Gyroid isn't destroyed by battle." Syrus explained as the attack washed over Gyroid.

"Then my second Magician's Valkyria will take care of it!" Dark Magician Girl declared as the second Magician's Valkyria attacked and destroyed it.

"Now my Dark Magician takes out your face-down monster! Dark Magic Attack!" Dark Magician leaped into the air and launched a dark stream of magic at the face-down monster. It was revealed to be Jetroid.

"Jetroid's effect lets me activate trap cards from my hand when it's targeted." Syrus explained as to took took a card from his hand and held it out.

"Sakuretsu Armor destroys the attacking monster." Syrus stated as a metal blade flew from the card and impaled the assaulting Dark Magician.

"Wasn't expecting that! But with Dark Magician in my graveyard, I gain 300 more ATK." Dark Magician Girl explained as her ATK rose to 2900.

"Now let's see what I can do! Dark Burning Attack!" She flew into the air and lobbed another ball of dark energy at the roid monster. Syrus again selected a card from his hand.

"I activate No Entry!!, it switched all attack position monsters to defense position."

Dark Magician Girl and both Magician's Valkyria were forced into defense position stopping Dark Magician Girl's attack.

"Oh well, gotta end my turn. Let's see what you've got!" Dark Magician Girl said excitedly.

As Syrus drew his next card he still pondered what he could possibly do. Her Magician's Valkyrias still prevented all attack. But a smile struck Syrus's face when he saw the card he drew.

"I summon Submarineroid! Your Magician's Valkyrias only prevent me from attacking your spellcasters, but this guy can attack you directly!" Syrus declared happily.

"Attack!" Syrus declared as the submarine launched a torpedo at her. Dark Magician Girl's life points decreased to 2200.

"Submarineroid other effect activates, after it attacks it goes to defense position. Turn end." Syrus said cheerfully. Dark Magician Girl smiled also seeing that he was enjoying the game.

"I'll start by changing myself to attack position, then I play another Sage's Stone to call out another Dark Magician." She announced as a second Dark Magician appeared by her.

"I'll bet your all out of trap cards, so I'll have him take out Jetroid! Dark Magic Attack!" The dark spellcaster readied his attack.

Syrus looked at his hand debating. He actually have three trap cards left. He could activate Widespread Ruin to destroy the monster on her side of the field with the highest ATK, but Dark Magician Girl herself had the highest ATK, and he couldn't destroy such a beautiful card! But he did have two other cards to play.

"I activate Cyber Repairer and Supercharge! Cyber Repairer lets you draw a card, but in exchange my machine monsters are indestructible for the rest of this turn. Then Supercharge lets me draw two cards."

Dark Magician Girl saw that attacking anymore would be pointless. She then glanced at the card she had just drawn and smiled.

"I activate Thousand Knives! With Dark Magician on my field I can destroy one opposing monster, like Jetroid!" She declared. Several floating knives appeared around Dark Magician with a few appearing in his hand. He then threw the ones in his hand with the others following. Jetroid was cut to ribbons by the countless blades. Syrus grew nervously, he couldn't count on Jetroid's effect to bail him out on his next turn.

"I'll set a card face-down. Turn end." Dark Magician Girl said. Syrus drew a card. He became less nervously seeing it.

"I activate Shield Crush. It can destroy a defense position monster. So I'll eliminate a Magician's Valkyria!" He declared as a blast came from the card destroying the spellcaster. Syrus had broken her attack lock down but was still far from taking control of the duel.

"Awesome! Now Syrus can fight back!" Hassleberry commented from the sidelines.

"Now I'll switch Submarineroid back to attack position. Attack directly!" He ordered. It launched another torpedo at the duel spirit.

"Now It's my turn to activate a trap card, Magic Cylinder!" Two cylinders appeared. Once caught the torpedo. Dark Magician Girl then motioned towards Syrus and the torpedo emerged from the other cylinder flying towards Syrus. He was knocked off his feet as his life point count fell to 500.

"Submarineroid switches to defense position." Syrus said as he got to his feet.

"And I set another monster in face-down defense position. Turn end."

Dark Magician Girl drew.

"I summon Skilled Dark Magician-" The new spellcaster registered 1900 ATK.

"to attack Submarineroid!" Submarineroid was demolished by the sudden attack.

"Now Dark Magicain will take care of your face-down monster! Dark Magic Attack!" She ordered again. The face-down monster was revealed to be Expressroid.

"Before it goes to the graveyard, Expressroid lets me move two roids from my graveyard to my hand." Syrus explained as he reclaimed Submarineroid and Kiteroid.

"You've got no monster's left, and I'm game! Dark Burning Attack!" She tossed another dark energy ball from her staff.

"I discard Kiteroid again!" The kite appeared before Syrus and took the hit for him.

"Your doing good. I'll end my turn again." She acknowledged.

Syrus drew. Now everything was in place.

"I activate Vehicroid Connection Zone, tributing Steamroid, Drillroid, and Submarineroid to fusion summon Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill!" This was it, he could win here.

"I'll attack Magician's Valkyria." The over-sized drill effortlessly defeated the last Magician's Valkyria. It's piercing effect came into play reducing Dark Magician Girl's life points to 0. People became cheering. Syrus looked around franticly realizing a crowd had gathered.

"Guess a deals a deal, right Sy?" The magicianess asked affectionately. She began to walk toward him as the crowd cheered. Syrus looked across the crowd. They were all looking at him! He looked to Dark Magician Girl approaching him. What if she didn't like his kiss?! As his courage fled Syrus turned and fled as well much to the crowds' protest. After arriving in his room he stopped to catch his breath. He quickly regretted having run. He sighed in disappointment.

"Can't get away that easy." He turned at the sound of her playful voice. She closed the door behind her as she entered the room. Syrus retreated as she walked towards him until he felt his back press against the wall.

"I-" Syrus started but was silenced when Dark Magician Girl put a finger to his lips.

"You forgot your prize." She whispered leaning forward.
