The Fallen Part Two: Renamon VS. Angeteen

Disclamier: I don't own digimon, and so help me if I ever did, the adition to the girls being nude would be a dead give-away that I did. That said, until Digimon ends up on "Playboy," I will simply remain a penniless pauper.

Angeteen

Waking up, Renamon carefully disengaged herself from the sleeping Ruki. After stretching to her full height, she enjoyed the sound of her bones popping in her back. She wasn't sure why, but waking up in the early hours of the morning always had been her favorite thing to do.

In the mornings, most things were asleep, and she could freely roam about, enjoying the sound of silence. Walking out of Ruki's room, she decided to go into the kitchen, and prepare herself a quick meal before setting out for the day.

When she got there, she discovered that she had company. Sitting slouched over in a chair sat none other than Jay himself. His hair was a mess, his cloths wrinkled up, and he had one of the most sour look on his face if there ever were one.

Taking a sip of the coffee that he was holding in his right hand, he mumbled something that sounded like "morning." Renamon narrowed her eyes at him. "What are you doing up this early?" she asked him. "Its 6:00 A.M" he replied, trying not to let his grouchiness show through his voice.

"I always wake up this early. Now that I think of it, that may be why I like coffee so much" he said, giving a slight chuckle at this statement, while losing a little bit of his morning grogginess. "I hope you don't mind. I'm already trying to fix breakfast." He hiked a thumb over to the stove that was behind him.

Inside of a frying pan, two eggs were being quickly prepared. To the right of the pan, on the surface of the counter, a spatula rested. Ever few moments or so, the spatula would be lifted up by an unseen hand, and turned the eggs over. After a couple of moments, a plate drifted out of the cabinet and the frying pan was lifted up into the air, and dumped the eggs into it.

After the pan was sat back down onto the blind, the plate with the freshly made eggs drifted directly in front of Renamon, who stared at it with suspicion. "You can eat them if you like" Jay offered. "I can just as easily fix myself more."

Pushing the plate aside, Renamon shook her head. "I don't eat anything unless I prepare it myself." Shrugging, Jay reached for the plate, and began to cut a small piece off one of his eggs. After popping it in his mouth, he swallowed, and turned to look at her.

"Exactly what would a digimon like you eat?" he asked her. "Anything that I can catch and kill" Renamon replied coldly. "Sounds like fun" Jay said sarcastically. "But, then again, I've probably eaten worse myself."

Renamon was silent. She just continued to stand there, and stare as Jay continued his morning meal. Finishing the last of his eggs, the plate drifted over to the sink, where it was quickly washed and put back in the cabinet where it originally came from. Grasping his coffee cup in his right hand, Jay studied Renamon's face as if he were reading tealeaves.

"Morning grogginess has never been something I enjoyed" he said, mostly to himself. "Thank God for coffee. Gets rid of it in a hurry. Of course, what really does it is the caffeine in it. It speeds up the heart, and delivers a serge of energy to the body. Of course, if the heart speeds up to much, the person will suffer a hear attack, so I guess its better not to drink to much of it."

Renamon just stared at him, wondering what he was thinking. Laughing slightly, he drunk the rest of his coffee in one gulp, stood up, and placed it in the sink. "Don't worry" Jay said. "I'm just talking to myself again. I do that sometimes, especially when I'm deep in thought, so there is no need to worry."

Renamon only continued to gaze at him. "Not much of a socialist are you?" he asked. Renamon didn't even bother responding. Jay shrugged at not getting an answer. "Well, if you plan not to do much talking, I'm afraid that we can't have a conversation." Not saying another word, he brushed by her on his trip out of the kitchen.

Turning on her heels, Renamon continued to stare at him. To her, he was defiantly a strange one. He seemed calm in his reserve, and even inviting in his personality, but still there was something about him that she didn't like. She couldn't quite place her finger on it, but there’s was defiantly something wrong with this guy. It was as if he wasn't bringing all of his cards into play.

***

Latter that day, Ruki was out for a walk in order to clear her thoughts. Her mind was mainly on thoughts that applied to the current events at home. She didn't know why, but she knew that Renamon was doomed. It wasn't the fact that Jay had told her she would soon take a fall due to her pride, but it was something else all together.

While she was thinking these thoughts, the sudden sound of an old man screaming quickly brought her out of her train of thought. Looking ahead a little, she saw that just barely ten feet in front of her, an old, gray haired man had fallen over onto the sidewalk and was moaning in pain. He was poorly clothed, and looked as it he had spent his entire life in the slums.

Even though she didn't feel like it, she did take pity on him. Kneeling down beside him, she hooked her arms around his waist and hauled him back up to his feet. Swaying a little unsteadily, the man looked at her with eyes that were dulled out by age.

"Thanks missy" he said, in a tired, worn out voice. "But I seem to be missing my cane. Can you please find it for me?" Looking around a little, she found it lying about five feet from where he fell. It wasn't really a cane. It was more of a long stick, which he used to keep himself upright.

Handing it to him, he gave an unsettling smile that showed a mouth full of gums. "Thanks for helping an old man like me" he said. "It's nice to now that even the younger generation have a sense of respect for their elders."

Ruki decided not to tell him that the real reason she had helped him was because he was groaning as if he were having an operation without any anestics. She knew this much for sure; that the day she would turn old, would be the day she would die. Is this man was any indication of what most old people were like, she would simply end it all, and avoid the many years of painful experiences before death finally whisked her away while she lay asleep in some dumpster.

Leaning over onto his cane, the man looked at her softly in the eyes. "Is something troubling you?" he asked. "No" Ruki replied. "Hmm...I was just wondering. You seemed for a while as if you were doing some mighty big thinking."

Should she tell this guy about her problem? ‘Why not?’ she thought herself. As old, and senile as he was, she doubted he would be even able to remember much of what she had told him. "A...friend of mine has something against a current guest that is visiting us."

"A guest?" he asked. "How long is he staying?" "I've no idea. Probably for quite some time by the looks of it." "Can you tell me a little about this person?" he asked. "He is powerful. Not in powerful as in money, or strength, or wisdom, but a different kind."

"What kind is it?" he asked. "It would be hard to explain, but believe me, what I tell you is true " she said, somehow doubting that she could just come outright and say that he was a telepath. "And your friend resents him because..."

"Because he turned out to be more than she could handle. It’s kind of foolish, but that’s why she hates him, or at least so I think." The man was quiet for a moment. Finally after fiddling with the tip of his beard, he said at last "pride comes before a fall."

Ruki stared at him in surprise. "What did you just say?" she asked him. "I said "that's not bad at all" " he said slowly. "If your friend hates this visitor of yours, it's her own fault, and nobody else's. Given time, he will soon go away, and the problem will be taken care of."

"But by the looks of it, he will be with us for months, maybe even years." "Well then...it looks like she will just have to learn to like him, or at least tolerate him. In time, this may happen. I of course may be wrong, but who knows? Stranger things have happened."

"Yeah, I now what you mean" she said. Taking a few steps back, she said "I'm sorry, but I have to go. Thanks for your advice." The old man was silent, but looked on she turned around and left. Stroking his beard, a strange smile spread across his face.

Suddenly, so softly one would think it was just a breath of air, he spoke in a voice that betrayed his age. "Yes, Ruki dear" he said "stranger things have happened. And the next time when you and your digimon get together, I'll show you just how strong my "power" is. Or, at least, a fraction of it. Just be sure to bring Renamon. I look forward to another rematch with her."

***

Returning home, Ruki returned to her room, and called out for Renamon. Appearing out of thin air as usual, she looked down at her partner and asked "what is it that I may do for you." Ruki looked at her and asked "do you have any idea where Jay is?"

"He left" she replied. "Do you have any idea where he went?" Renamon shook her head. "He didn't say anything about it. He just got up and left. Chances are he could be anywhere." Ruki was silent for a moment.

She was about to ask Renamon another question, but before she did, her D-arc started to go off. Taking a quick glance at it, she saw that another digital field had opened up. Without saying a word, Ruki ran off to find the source of the signal with Renamon close behind her.

***

As Rika finished plunging into the digital field, she saw before her an air type digimon. It's body was serpent like, with the wings of a dragon on it's back. Pulling out her D-Arc, she pointed it at it, and waited. In a moment, the words "Airdramon" appeared.

"Airdramon huh?" Ruki said to herself. "He shouldn't be to much of a problem." Renamon, only sticking around long enough to learn what the digimon's name was, quickly began to sneak upon it. As soon as she was within range, she jumped into the air as she yelled out "Diamond Storm!"

The shards of diamonds struck Airdramon full on, cutting deep into him. However, as much damage as it did, as soon as the shock of pain was over, his eyes quickly began to orient on Renamon. As soon as he found his target, he shouted ""

Quickly moving to the left, Renamon dodged it with an acute accuracy. As she landed on the ground, Airdramon quickly charged her. To avoid him, she jumped straight into the air, preparing to let him pass underneath her.

She got quite a surprise. As she was coming down, Airdramon, seeing that she was trying to dodge him, quickly changed course and instead of going forwards, he made a lop sided curve towards Renamon. In defense Renamon aimed a kick at him, but Airdramon swerved at the last second and missed it.

As Renamon finished her free fall, she prepared herself for her next attack. Looking slightly up, she saw that Airdramon was now back in the process of charging at her. Smiling to herself, she decided to herself why not to take the bull by the horns?

Charging it in turn, she pulled back her hand, preparing to give it a hard blow. As she was within range, she let one fly, and struck it hard on the nose. Airdramon roared in pain. As soon as Renamon reached her equilibem of how high she could go, she began her decent back to Earth.

However, unlike last time, the Airdramon was aware of where she was. Before Renamon knew what was happening, at the last second Airdramon quickly used the end of it's tail and wrapped it around her right leg, dragging her behind it on the ground. Renamon, caught completely off guard at this sudden attack, began to thrash desperately to get free.

However, no matter how much she struggled, she could not get free. Reaching into her pack of cards, Ruki quickly pulled out a modify card. Sliding it through her D-Arc, she called out "digi-modify!" The next thing Renamon knew, her arms had changed into Snimon's sickles.

Raising her arms, Renamon called out "Twin Sickles!" At her call, a small blast of energy hurled itself at Airdramon's head. Airdramon quickly tilted its head to the side, but not fast enough. As the attack swept by his head, the edge of it knocked him a good one.

Dropping till it was about an inch above the ground, he somehow managed to cancel out the slacking in his coils, which held Renamon captive. Before regaining his barings, Renamon launched another attack at his head. This one, however, caused him to do a little more than drop in altitude. What it actually did was take out part of his head, which soon followed towards his immediate deletion.

Landing gracefully, she quietly closed her eyes as she absorbed Airdramon's data. Ruki began to run forward to congratulate her partner. "Not a bad job" she said. "But you shouldn't be as careless as you were last time" she chided. If you should ever have to fight with another digimon who is part serpent, repeating that mistake may be fatal."

"All mistakes are fatal" an old voice called "provided that you don't act in time in order to stop them. After that, then there's nothing more to worry about than detours in the road." Ruki spun around and saw the old man she met on the sidewalk from earlier on. He was standing quietly about a hundred feet behind her, a look of contempt in his eyes.

Walking towards them, cane in hand, he said "the most deadly one would be in underestimating your opponent. There is no telling how much strength and power he may be hiding under a show of weakness. Ruki, turning defensive by his sudden appearance, asked him "who are you?"

He brought a hand up to his beard and began to fiddle with the end of it as he mumbled out something so softly that she could barely discern what it was. At last, the old man gave her an answer so obscure it seized to make any comprehensible sense. " "I am the begging, and I am the end. I am the first, and I am the last. I am Alpha, and I am Omega." A verse from the bible. Can't remember the chapter or verse though. However, if you think about it, we ourselves are gods. So I guess that's what you may call me."

"You don't make any since." Ruki said. "Think of it this way...in all of us, humans contain the potential to control their own destines. This, whether you know it or not, may affect others for will or woe. So in a way, we are gods. The problem is, we are gods only to a lesser degree. Not only that, some are more powerful than others. Just like in the old Greek mythology. So the answer to your question is that I am a god."

Renamon just glared at him. "And what am I?" "You...you are what you choose to be. And by watching your battle, I'd say you were destined to be a fighter. Just be careful not to let your strength become your only form of diplomacy. After all, whether you know it or not, I, in reality, am quite a fighter myself.

Renamon flattened her ears against the side of her skull. "An old thing like you? Defeat me? I'd love to see how." Striding forward, his weight solely on his cane, he stood about a foot before her. Staring at her, he slowly mumbled out these three words; "David and Goliath."

As soon as this was said, he brought the top of his cane smartly down on Renamon's head. Before Renamon had a chance to do anything else, he used the bottom of his cane and swept it underneath her legs, sending her to the ground in a hurry.

Pressing the bottom of his cane against her chest, he looked down at her. "As I said before...I can beat you hands down." Renamon only glared upward at him. He didn't say a word. He didn't move a musscle. He was as still as stone.

Then, as if by a whim, he removed his cane and took a few steps away from her. Shaking his head in disappointment, he said "you still have a long ways to go. You see me as an old man, not for what I really am." Climbing back up to her feet, Renamon asked him "what are you?" Then, as an after thought, she said "and don't give me any of that religious crap either!"

" Sad. Really sad. But what could I expect. Christianity isn't the main religion here, so I guess I'll just have to be tolerant of it." Before Renamon could have gotten another word in, the man's features began to twist and turn into a new feature. When it was complete, a raven haired, blue-green eyed youth stood before them. Not only had the old man's features changed, so to had his cloths. Somehow all the holes in his previous wear was removed as if by magic.

"Jay?" Ruki said, her mouth falling open. "Don't be surprised" he told her, throwing his staff to the ground. "I've changed the appearance of my body more times than you would believe, and I don't mean just to human either. I've actually assumed an animal form on more than just one occasion."

Renamon, enraged at Jay's sudden appearance, asked him "why are you hear, and why did you disguise yourself?" "I am here, because I choose to be here. And as for my change of form, I did so to see what your tamer thought of last night's little incident."

Ignoring the look of hatred in Renamon's face, Jay continued. "She is somewhat disturbed by your lack of manners to house guests. I say she has right to be so. So I have waited until a time such as this to arrive. Here, if you wish, we may settle our differences." Renamon, filled with rage, approached him with steady footsteps. Ruki called her back, but Renamon ignored her.

Leaping into the air, she shouted "diamond storm!" A hail of diamonds suddenly raced towards Jay. Quickly crossing his arms out in front of him, he waited as Renamon's attack approached. As soon as they were within a close range of his body, they smashed against the same invisible barrier that protected him once before.

Moving forward, he charged Renamon down. As soon as he approached, Renamon dodged. However, as fast as she moved, she didn't get as far away as she would have liked. Reaching out quickly, Jay grabbed the end of her tail, and yanked hard on it, bringing her to the ground with a satisfactory thunk.

While she was still on her back, he quickly jumped in front of her, and slammed his foot against her throat. Applying pressure, he made sure that there would be only enough force to immobilize her, but not enough to cause her throat to collapse on itself.

Giving her a satisfactory grin, he looked down at her prostrate form. "Ready to surrender?" he asked, a sign of sureness in his voice. Before she could have answered, he removing his foot, turned, and backed away a few paces. "No. No need to answer that. I am sure you will continue to fight until you have been fairly thrashed."

Ignoring her glare, he continued. "Perhaps you deserve a more worthy opponent. One who will be as less fallible than myself." Walking to a near-by tree, Jay gazed up into it's branches. "What do you think?" he called out to whoever was in the tree.

"Care to give it a go?" A moment of silence passed. Then, as if on queue, the leaves on the tree shuddered as a form sprung from them. Landing on the ground, Angeteen looked over at Renamon. "She seems to be fair enough sport" he said. "I think I'll at least give it a try. It'll give me something to do to break the tedium I've grown accustomed to."

Renamon gritted her teeth hard. She didn't like being talked about as if she hardly mattered. What's more, she didn't liked to be talked about like a second rate opponent. She would show them. She would show them just how hard it would be to win against her.

Walking over to Angeteen, Jay whispered something into his ear. Renamon craned her fox-like hearing in an attempt to find out what was going on. However all she managed to pick up was Angeteen's reply. "Yeah. I'll be sure to do that. It could be useful latter on. Looks like I'll have to ditch the ol' "rope-a-dope" technique."

Rope-a-dope? Renamon's fur stood on end. He was quite confident. She would give him that. To confident. She would love to bring this guy down to his knees. Hard. Quickly, she looked him over, trying to analyze his weakness.

Air was obviously his strength. She would just have to keep him on the ground. This way he wouldn't be able to use any fancy tricks he may have hidden up his sleeve. Walking towards Renamon, Angeteen extended his hand.

Renamon just stared at it for a moment. Giving Renamon an impatient look, he said "well? Aren't you going to shake my hand?" Renamon's only response was silence. A scowl briefly lit Angeteen's face. "Okay then" he said. "Don't shake. Still...may the better mon win." 'Which will most likely be me you winged freak' Renamon thought bitterly to herself.

Turning around, Angeteen took fifteen paces, stopped, and turned around to face her. Taking a fighting stance, he looked over at Renamon. "Your move" he said. This was all the encouragement Renamon needed. Leaning forwards, she made a mad dash at him.

As she charged at him, Angeteen stood his ground, showing not even a trace of fear. As the distance between them was shorting, at the last moment, Angeteen made a quick dodge to the right. Somehow expecting this move, Renamon quickly averted her course.

Angeteen, not having time enough to prepare himself for this situation, was caught off guard as Renamon managed to lay a single blow aside his face. Angeteen staggered for a moment due to the impact, but quickly righted himself.

Feeling the stinging sensation on his left cheek, he turned to face Renamon. "Not bad" Angeteen said, nursing his wound slightly. "But still the game is early. Let's see how long you will last throughout the rest of it."

Bringing his fists up, he prepared himself. He took only long enough to give her a quick eyeing up and down as he tried to discover any known weakness. Gathering a little of his salvia in his mouth he did the unexpected. Judging the distance between them, he hucked once, and spat a great wad of spit at her.

Quickly Renamon jumped back just in time to miss the spittle. As she landed she looked back up at Angeteen...and found out that he was already closing in. Quickly she jumped straight into the air as he sailed on by.

Back on the ground, she was just in time to see him make a 180o turn, and charge back at her. Quickly Renamon was in the air again. As she began her decent she landed...into trouble. Before she could do anything she soon found two solid pair of arms wrapping across her torso.

Holding her in a bear hug, Angeteen refused to let go of her. Renamon lashed about trying to free herself. "No use struggling" Angeteen said. "You’re not going nowhere. We're going to get nice and comfortable until you are ready to surrender."

Hearing this, Ruki's face immediately went red. Renamon was getting stumped on, and it wasn't even funny. "Don't consider yourself the victor yet. Let's see what a little added strength and speed can do. DIGiMODIFY!" Suddenly Renamon felt a sudden surge of power and speed go through her. Using her newfound attributes, she managed to force Angeteen to let go of her.

As she spilt out of his arms she quickly did a back flip, and landed behind him. Reaching forward, she grabbed at the pair of Angeteen's wing, and began to brutally twist them about. In sudden agony, Angeteen fell to the ground.

"Let’s see how you like it now" Renamon said, knowing that as long as she held his wings she would be safe. Quickly breathing in and out, Angeteen felt panic. He had to get her off of him somehow. Thoughts quickly raced through his mind. What could he do from his current disposition? Any sudden movement of her hands would cause serious pain and agony.

"Well...you ready to surrender" Renamon asked. Gritting his teeth, Angeteen replied "not yet. I may not be able to call in someone in order to help me fight my own battles like you can, but you haven't won just yet." Renamon arched an eyebrow. "Really? And what makes you so confident?"

A sly smile spread across his face. "How sensitive is your hearing?" "Not much? Why?" He just shrugged his shoulders. "No reason. All I have to say to that is this" quickly turning the palm of his right hand so it was facing her, he shouted out "grunge blast!"

Renamon suddenly fell to the ground as she brought her hands over her ears. What Renamon heard was very hard to describe. It was a type of a sonic sound that was completely unbearable to others, but to the ones who were effected by it, it was like a dagger cutting into your mind. The effect was so bad that she curled up into a slight ball. As soon as Renamon let go, Angeteen quickly leapt back from her, making sure that she would not be able to get at his wings again.

Having recovered slightly from the effects, Renamon glared at him. Rubbing one of her ears with her paw she said "not a bad trick. Using sound as a way to escape. Inventive. However since you have already exposed your trick, I will be sure to look out for it again."

Angeteen only shook his head. "Its true that you know one of my tricks, however, provided that you force me into showing another to you, my second one, for the time being, will remain a mystery to you. Until then I suggest you to keep your guard up. And, oh yes, you may want your partner to digivolve you. You know...just to up the stakes a little."

'While it may be a good thing that he is confident in himself' Renamon thought to herself 'his confidence is going to be the death of him first provided that I don't do that deed myself.' Looking over at Ruki, Renamon called out "if he wants a real fight, I say let him have it. Ruki! I need to digivolve, now!"

Reaching into her pouch of cards, Ruki retrieved the card she was looking for. Sliding it through her
D-Arc, she shouted out "DIGIMODIFY!" In a moment Renamon had vanished and in her place stood her champion form, Kyubimon.

Leaning forward on her haunches, she sprung at Angeteen. Angeteen jumped straight into the air, and as he made his decent he found himself riding Kyubimon's back! Quickly he straddled his legs against Kyubimon's sides in order to prevent himself from falling off.

Kyubimon, not wanting any passengers, squealed to a sudden halt, and began to viciously shake her back in order to knock Angeteen off of her. Angeteen, realizing what she was trying to do, suddenly held on for dear life.

The way Kyubimon was acting you couldn't help but invision her as a bull and Angeteen as the bull rider. And what a rider he was! It was as if he was surgically attached to the top of Kyubimon's back. He took to staying on in ways that one wouldn't have ever believed.

This wasn't to say that he didn't have problems of his own. While he was able to hang on, that was all he could do. He couldn't dodge, attack, parry, defend, or do nothing in his current position except hang on. Kyubimon of course soon realized this. However, until she got him off of her back, she was as powerless to do anything to him as he was to her.

Running almost on desperation, she came up with a simple, but effective plan. Quickly she stopped her wild bucking, and made an attempt at rolling over. Angeteen was surprised needless to say. As Kyubimon rolled on top of him, she quickly grounded him into the ground with her back before she completed her roll over, and stood back up to her feet.

As Angeteen was about to pick himself up off the ground, Kyubimon suddenly pounced right on top of him. Having only a few seconds in order to react, Angeteen had just enough time to throw his hands up into the air, and catch the base of Kyubimon's front legs as she bore him back onto the ground. Soon a snarling Kyubimon's face was the only thing that filled his vision.

A small trickle of sweat raced down Angeteen's face. It was more from exertion than from fear. Taking a look at Kyubimon, Angeteen was suddenly aware that she must have spent a long time in perfecting her fighting skills. Still...inside...he knew she was no match from him.

Closing his eyes, he tried to channel whatever energy he could into his arms. From past experiences, he had learnt to manually call upon adrenaline. He tried to avoid doing such things seeing as how it usually left him in a weakened condition latter on, but right now there wasn't that many options left. He had already reviled one of his attacks, but he wasn't going to reveal the second!

Slowly, he began to feel an extra boost of energy go through his system. Opening his eyes, he slowly began to get up off the ground. Kyubimon was at first surprised at him doing this. Under normal circumstance, which weren't many if any at all, any normal digimon that was only at a rookie level couldn't possibly be able to fiend off a champion level digimon..

As he managed to bring himself into a standing position, he continued pressing up on Kyubimon's front legs. Higher, and higher his arms went up into the air until Kyubimon found herself starting to lose her balance. With one last lunge, he managed to force Kyubimon to fall backwards onto the ground.

As soon as she hit the ground, Angeteen managed to jump in front of her, and slammed the heel of his foot onto Kyubimon's throat like Jay had, blocking off some of her oxygen. The motion didn't kill her, but it did cause her to squirm in pain. Angeteen, however, wasn't showing any intention of removing his foot from its current location.

Still applying pressure, he waited for her to regain her breath before talking to her. What he said was only one word, and nothing more. "Surrender?" Kyubimon tried in vain to lift her head but found it hard to do. She knew that there was no escaping this one.

She wasn't sure how, but Angeteen was no ordinary digimon. He possessed a strength that surpassed even her own. She knew she had at last met her match. As her vision began to swim before her eyes, she managed to get out a last moment squeak. "I...surrender."

Hearing these words, Angeteen lifted his foot, and made a quick jump back, perhaps fearing that she might try to get back at him. As she regained her breath, she dedigivolved back into her rookie form, and walked over to Ruki.

Looking down at her tamer, she asked "why didn't you help me back there." Ruki was silent for a moment. "Because I knew it wouldn't do any good. You were wasting your time. There was nothing you, or anyone else could do."

"What makes you sure of that?" "Before Jay went to sleep the other night, he told me a little bit about Angeteen. He said that "he is a digimon unlike no other." As it turns out, since he is a fraction of himself, he also has a share of his power. However, depending at what level he's at, that determines how much power he currently has. Right now, he's considered fairly weak. He doesn't even have his full potential yet. Believe me...according to him, he’s taken care of just about every digimon there is at the champion level."

"And?" Renamon asked, raising her eyebrow. "And it turns out that Angeteen has been undefeated. Not only that, he also has been completely unaided. Jay never even lifted a finger in trying to help him through one of his battles."

"And thus the reason of why I took you down like it was nothing" Angeteen said, straddling Renamon's side. Renamon glared at him. "I don't want to talk to you, hotshot." Angeteen looked hurt for a moment. "If its about what I've said back when we were fighting, I'm sorry. I was instructed to do that."

Now it was Renamon's turn to get surprised. "Instructed? What do you mean." "I mean that Jay needed you to use those card tricks of yours in order to learn how to make me digivolve. When your friend Ruki had you digivolved, Jay studied the effects, and is now trying to make sense out the results.

Looking past Angeteen's shoulder, Renamon saw that Jay was frantically scribbling something down in the dirt. In his right hand he was using a small stone as his writing tool. He was currently paying attention to nothing else, other than to the fact of what he was writing down.

"It was my job to goad you into digivolving. After you went into champion, I dropped the act, and then concentrated on fighting. I'm sorry to have deceived you, but this information is important to both of us, and we will one day need it in the long run."

Renamon didn't say anything. She quietly turned her back towards Angeteen. Leaping into the air, she faded away from sight. "I think she took it well" Angeteen said. "Well...at least better than I thought." Turning around, he crouched beside a frantically scribbling Jay. The only acknowledgment he gave to Angeteen's presence was a brief glance to his left, and then his gaze quickly returned to his work.

Ruki, curious about what was going on, walked over to look at what Jay was working so hard on. As she got near his side, she glanced down at the ground, and was astounded at what she saw. On the park floor was something that looked like a scientist's equation for a super rocket fuel.

It was nearly impossible to tell when one equation ended, and another began. Angeteen, noticing Ruki's bewilderment, just gave a brief chuckle. "We can thank a few college professors for this bit. I figured I would need a vast array of knowledge on his journey, so I spent what time I could gleaming all sorts of information."

"That trick of coping other people's memories seems to be quit a helpful trick" Ruki remarked. "Knowledge is the source of all of my power" Jay remarked, not even bothering to look up. "Without knowing as much as I do, all of my telekinetic powers would be completely useless. By knowing certain things, I can could hold the entire world within the palm of my hands if I so desired."

"Then why don't you?" Ruki asked, knowing that he probably had the means too do so. Jay was silent for a moment. After laying down the stone he was writing with, he gave out a sigh. He had apparently finished the work he needed to get done. Standing up, he said "what would be the point?"

Ruki was silent for a moment. "What do you mean?" "What I mean is that even if I did seize control of the world, what good would it do me? I have no desire to rule anyone other than myself. Besides that...after taking note of what has been going on in the world, I find the human race as a whole is nothing more than a bunch of misguided people who won't even hesitate kill one another just to settle their differences."

His words struck Ruki a strong blow. "What are you saying?" "If you take a good look inside of any history book, you will find that mankind’s era of existence has been nothing, but a bunch of bloodshed. Man will continue to grind each other into the ground, until all that is around him is destroyed. He will fight for whatever pretence is given; love, hate, greed, religion, color...it doesn't matter. As long as they're others who are around him, he will fight. He will kill. And he himself will one day die. If man knew that I existed, he would even seek to destroy me because of my difference. This is the history of man. This is his tale of sorrow. This is his ultimate doom. This is why I will leave him to his own designs. A single person can not simply take the reins in his own hands to direct man's course. Only man as a whole can do that."

I looked at Jay in silence. He had said more in a few words, than could possibly be conceived. Finally, at last finding my voice, I said "I think you need help." Jay glanced away from me. "You may be right. Unfortunately, there is no one that can help me. I am on my own in this. There is more going on than you may at first realize. To save you from worry, I will not tell you." Dropping his voice an octave, he said "ignorance is bliss after all."

Lowering his head, he turned around and walked away. Where he was going I had no idea. I couldn't help, but wonder at what was going through his mind. He seemed to have a cloudy perspective of the future, this much I could say for certain. However, little did I know, that the reason for his words had a great deal more to do with a tragedy that was about to befall us. A tragedy...even he might not be able to stop.

Well I ended things pretty much on a sour note this time. Still, provided I don't take as long to write the next chapter, I will see what else I can produce. Until then, feel free to give me reviews at Angeteen@hotpop.com
